What's the opportunity?

This position will play a key role in supporting and scaling Intercom’s revenue accounting operations. You will work closely with Revenue, Finance Systems, Data, and GTM teams to ensure accurate, efficient, and scalable revenue processes as the business grows.

This role is highly operational and detail-oriented, with a focus on owning complex revenue workflows, improving visibility into in-month activity, and ensuring the accuracy of automated processes. You’ll play a critical role in validating automation outputs, strengthening controls, and reducing risk across key revenue streams—including enterprise contracts and usage-based revenue.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual with strong revenue accounting fundamentals who is excited to improve processes, leverage automation and AI tools, and operate in a fast-paced SaaS environment.

What will I be doing?

  • Own and execute key components of the monthly revenue close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage complex revenue workflows, including ramped contracts, usage-based revenue, and other non-standard arrangements.
  • Track and monitor revenue transactions throughout the month to improve visibility and reduce month-end close spikes.
  • Own and prepare reconciliations for revenue-related accounts, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform detailed variance and flux analysis, identifying key drivers and investigating discrepancies.
  • Serve as UAT lead for automation and systems initiatives impacting revenue accounting.
  • Validate system outputs and ensure revenue recognition is accurate and compliant with ASC 606.
  • Build and maintain controls around automated processes to ensure data integrity and audit readiness.
  • Partner closely with Finance Systems and Data teams to enhance revenue systems, data flows, and reporting.
  • Support accounting for enterprise contracts and ensure proper treatment of complex deal structures.
  • Assist in operationalizing usage-based revenue models, including validation of data inputs and revenue outputs.
  • Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives, including leveraging AI tools to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort.
  • Support audit requests and maintain documentation for key revenue processes and controls.

What skills do I need?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA (or in progress) preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with exposure to revenue accounting (SaaS experience preferred).
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and foundational knowledge of ASC 606.
  • Experience supporting month-end close processes, including reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Experience with NetSuite (NetSuite ARM experience is a plus).
  • Familiarity with Stripe, Salesforce (SFDC), and Snowflake is a plus.
  • Experience with SaaS and/or usage-based revenue models preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage and track high volumes of transactions.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to investigate issues and ensure data accuracy.
  • Interest in automation and experience working with or validating system-driven processes.
  • Excitement about leveraging AI tools to improve accounting workflows and efficiency.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Organized, proactive, and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
