ACCOUNTANT, LAUNCH

The Accountant is a critical member of the Accounting team who will play an impactful role in the day-to-day accounting operations of SpaceX. This role focuses on tracking, analyzing, and optimizing costs associated with the production, inventory, and utilization of flight components. You will ensure accurate costing for Falcon, Dragon and Raptor components, engaging with various teams such as Supply Chain, Finance and Materials Management. The ideal candidate will be an independent, creative, dynamic, collaborative problem solver.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee inventory costing and reconciliation for Launch raw materials, sub-assemblies and finished products
  • Conduct obsolescence reviews and perform reserve calculations to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and materials for internal and external reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Provide support for annual financial statement audits and ad hoc analyses
  • Support the GL financial close process and related activities to ensure complete and accurate financials in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Work cross-functionally to gain an in-depth understanding of Company operations and business results within assigned areas
  • Execute and maintain high quality work to ensure accuracy and completeness of the Company’s financial statements
  • Support efforts to improve processes and reporting, including standardization and automation efforts
  • Perform ad hoc duties and analysis as assigned by management

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of professional experience in accounting or finance

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or other business discipline
  • Prior experience in Microsoft Excel, SQL, D365 and Power BI
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • CPA license or equivalent
  • Experience in accounting for aerospace or technology companies
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to seek underlying assumptions through probing, questioning, and listening

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to work long hours when needed to meet critical deadlines
  • This position is based in Hawthorne, CA, and requires being onsite - remote/hybrid will not be considered

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Accountant: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
