About Flexport:

At Flexport, we believe global trade can move the human race forward. That’s why it’s our mission to make global commerce so easy there will be more of it. We’re shaping the future of a $10T industry with solutions powered by innovative technology and exceptional people. Today, companies of all sizes—from emerging brands to Fortune 500s—use Flexport technology to move more than $19B of merchandise across 112 countries a year.

The recent global supply chain crisis has put Flexport center stage as we continue to play a pivotal role in how goods move around the world. We are proud to have the support of the best investors in the game who believe in our mission, solutions and people. Ready to tackle global challenges that impact business, society, and the environment? Come join us.

Global trade is the circulatory system of the world economy, but it is currently blocked by a century-old problem: Customs. It is complex, fragmented, and notoriously manual—a friction layer that slows down $19 billion worth of goods for our clients every year.

At Flexport, we are not just digitizing forms; we are building the Operating System for Global Customs.

We are looking for a Group Product Manager to lead this critical vertical. You will own the strategy and execution for a product suite that serves as the "API" between global commerce and government regulation. This is not a maintenance role. We need a builder to transform a high-stakes, regulated domain into a high-velocity automated platform. If you want to solve problems that scare other Product Managers—and lead a talented team to ship the solution—this is your arena.

Why We Win

Customs is a crowded market, but we stand alone. Here is why top global shippers are leaving legacy providers to run on Flexport:

  • We are the only Tech-Native Player: We are the only major company in this space founded in the modern internet era. While our competitors are bogged down by infrastructure that predates Netscape, we build with the speed and agility of a Silicon Valley software company.
  • The "Single Pane of Glass": Customers don't want black boxes; they want control. We offer the industry's only unified Control Tower—a modern platform where clients can track shipments, manage compliance, and take immediate action in real-time.
  • Speed is our Survival Skill: In a landscape defined by rapid geopolitical shifts and volatile tariff regimes (e.g. new Trump tariffs), our competitors take months to update their manuals. Because we are code-first, we adapt instantly, giving our clients a massive competitive edge.
  • AI-Driven Compliance: We don't just throw people at problems; we throw intelligence. We are pioneering automated compliance, leveraging our deep domain expertise to build tools like our Tariff Simulator, which has become the internet’s standard for calculating landed costs.
  • Unrivaled Financial Recovery: We turn compliance into revenue. Our world-leading Duty Drawback product uses advanced algorithms to identify refund opportunities that human auditors miss. We regularly outperform the competition by up to 10x in recovering "free money" from the government for our clients.

This is a rare opportunity to lead product strategy at the intersection of AI and one of the most critical, under-innovated areas of global trade. You'll own products that directly impact how $19 billion of goods clear customs across 112 countries, keeping supply chains moving in an era of unprecedented regulatory complexity.

The Role

We are looking for a Group Product Manager to lead our Customs product vertical. You will manage a team of Product Managers while remaining hands-on with the strategy and execution of our most complex technical products. You will own the roadmap for the Global Customs suite, ensuring we deliver compliant, high-velocity clearing solutions for our global customers.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership (Coach): Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 3–6 Product Managers. Foster a culture of technical excellence, user empathy, and high-velocity shipping.
  • Product Strategy: Define the 6–18 month roadmap for the Customs vertical. Translate high-level business goals (revenue, efficiency) into actionable product initiatives and OKRs.
  • Execution (Player): "Roll up your sleeves" to directly lead critical 0-to-1 initiatives or complex API integrations when necessary. You are not just managing; you are building.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as the primary product counterpart to Engineering Managers and Staff Designers. Drive alignment across Operations, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure our products meet strict regulatory standards.
  • Operational Excellence: Improve our product development processes. Ensure your team writes clear PRDs, manages backlogs effectively, and uses data to drive decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of Product Management experience, with a focus on technical or B2B products.
  • 3+ years of experience managing other Product Managers (e.g., as a Lead PM or GPM).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results in complex, regulated industries (Logistics, Fintech, Healthcare, etc.).
  • Strong technical fluency; comfort discussing API design, data models, and system architecture with engineering teams.
  • Experience owning a product roadmap and delivering measurable business impact (e.g., revenue growth, efficiency gains).

How we work:

  • We model the real world: Our domain is complex (customs, logistics), so we value deep domain immersion over superficial fixes. We encourage PMs to "go see" the operations floor.
  • You have full ownership of the Customs roadmap. We align on outcomes, not features.
  • We come to the office at at least three times a week to hang out, have lunch, white board, and collaborate.

What's in it for you?

  • An opportunity to contribute to one of the fastest-growing companies, where you’ll have the chance to create a global impact while being a part of a thriving multinational environment
  • Daily catered lunches incl. vegetarian options, breakfast, snacks and soft drinks available in our office on daily basis
  • Commute expenses: Flexport will cover home-office commuting costs for employees living outside of Amsterdam
  • 25 working days as vacation days based on full time employment.
  • Health insurance: Flexport offers a collective health insurance plan including a basic package and any available additional packages. Your monthly premium is fully paid by Flexport.
  • A defined pension contribution scheme
  • Equity program: every team member becomes a shareholder, aligning our success with yours. As a private company in a multi-trillion dollar industry, you have a direct stake in our collective growth and success.
  • Employee Assistance Program through Aetna Resources for Living: Flexport provides an employer-sponsored program at no cost to you and your household members
  • Parental leave benefit: Flexport is here to support you and your families in one of the most important times in life – the birth of a child! Our parental leave program allows both mothers and partners to take time off from work for pregnancy, childbirth, and to bond with your new child.

Commitment to Equal Opportunity

At Flexport, our ability to fulfill our mission of making global commerce easy and accessible relies on having a diverse, dedicated and engaged workforce. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, physical and mental disability, health status, marital and family status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, military and veteran status, and any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
