MongoDB is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Atlas Clusters Fleet Rollout Management team, entrusted with overseeing all software deployments to the Atlas Data Plane. Our core mission is to establish platform stability by owning the complete software lifecycle: encompassing pre-release validation, robust rollout mechanisms, customer configurability and observability, and proactive monitoring systems designed to swiftly detect and mitigate potential issues.

The Atlas Clusters organization is responsible for the core data plane services that power MongoDB Atlas, the leading multi-cloud database-as-a-service. As a Software Engineer on the team, you will be instrumental in building the next generation of cloud-agnostic, distributed systems that manage the lifecycle of our database clusters, ensuring high availability, performance, and security for millions of users worldwide.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in New York and would like a hybrid or in-office working model.

What you’ll do

  • Build and design new features for MongoDB Atlas
  • Contribute to and lead complex technical projects
  • Work with stakeholders throughout MongoDB to build our roadmap and product offerings
  • Work with customers and support engineers to fix issues and become part of our on-call rotation
  • Collaborate with team members to develop our codebase, best practices, and design principles
  • Foster an inclusive and respectful work environment according to MongoDB's Core Values

We’re looking for someone who

  • Has at least 5 years of professional software development experience
  • Is skilled at writing large-scale, distributed backend systems in a compiled language (Go, Java, C#, etc.).
  • Has experience with at least one major cloud provider technology (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Has led the launch of a new critical feature and maintained it in production
  • Is eager to solve tough problems
  • Has some experience rolling out features to a large product with existing customers
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Is curious, collaborative, and motivated

Success Measures

  • In 3 months, you'll have shipped code into production and collaborated with the team to solve tough problems
  • In 6 months, you'll have contributed to a large project
  • In 12 months, you'll have designed new features, led development work, and become a go-to expert on parts of the system

Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings.
