About the Role
Ontra is hiring its first dedicated Account Director, Investment Banking in EMEA. You'll lead our expansion into the region.
Ontra has built a strong position with investment banks in North America, and EMEA is our next major growth market. You'll be the person who turns that opportunity into a business. You'll win new logos, grow our early relationships, and shape how Ontra goes to market in the region.
This role is based in the United Kingdom, with a strong preference for those in London. Regular travel to financial centres across continental Europe, including Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, and Brussels, is expected.
It suits a builder who wants ownership more than an established playbook. You'll be comfortable with ambiguity and energized by being first in. You'll have the credibility to open doors at top-tier and mid-market banks, and the judgment to tell us what works in EMEA and what doesn't. You'll work closely with sales leadership and cross-functional teams in North America. On the ground, you'll be the face of Ontra to EMEA investment banks.
What You'll Do
Build the EMEA pipeline from the ground up: Identify, prospect, and qualify target banks across the UK and continental Europe, largely through outbound effort and your own network.
Own the full sales cycle: Run deals end to end, from first conversation through negotiation and close, with a high degree of autonomy.
Expand our early EMEA accounts: Deepen relationships with our existing EMEA customers and turn them into references and growth engines.
Shape the regional go-to-market strategy: Bring market insight back to the team on pricing, positioning, competitors, and regulatory and cultural differences, and help adapt our playbook for EMEA.
Be Ontra's presence in the market: Represent Ontra at industry events, host customer and prospect sessions, and build brand awareness where we're not yet well known.
Partner across time zones: Work with Marketing, Customer Success, Legal, and Product, including stakeholders based in North America, to launch regional campaigns, onboard new customers, and feed EMEA needs into the roadmap.
Lay the foundation for a team: Document what works and help define the profile, process, and metrics for future EMEA hires.
What You'll Bring
Experience: 2+ years of experience as an investment banking professional (with 5+ years of combined professional experience), or 2+ years of sales experience as a top performer selling to investment banks (with 5+ years of combined professional experience).
An established EMEA network: Existing relationships with M&A bankers, deal teams, or banking operations leaders in London and continental Europe.
Industry knowledge: Deep understanding of the EMEA investment banking landscape, including key players, deal dynamics, and market trends.
Self-direction: Comfort working without a large local team or established infrastructure. You create structure rather than wait for it.
Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication. Additional European languages are a plus.
Compensation
This role offers a competitive On-Target Earnings (OTE) compensation plan structured with a 50/50 split between base pay and commission.
