The Reddit Consumer Engineering organization builds and scales the products that Redditors use directly to discover content, participate in communities, and connect with others. Sitting at the intersection of large-scale distributed systems and core user journeys, Android Software Engineers in Consumer Engineering work with Product Managers, Designers, Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Backend Engineers, and other mobile engineers to build, experiment with, and scale the experiences that help hundreds of millions of users discover, join, navigate, and engage with Reddit.

Build and evolve user-facing Android experiences that help people discover, consume, create, and engage with content and communities.
Lead projects through the full development lifecycle, from product definition and technical design to implementation, experimentation, launch, and ongoing improvement.
Partner with product, design, data science, ML, backend, and platform teams to shape strategy, translate technical capabilities into intuitive experiences, and deliver measurable user impact.
Improve Android architecture, performance, reliability, accessibility, developer workflows, and engineering standards while mentoring teammates and driving cross-functional technical initiatives.
An experienced Android engineer who has built and shipped consumer-facing native applications at scale using Kotlin.

Experience designing mobile systems and interfaces, evaluating architectural tradeoffs, and building scalable features from APIs through user-facing UI.
Experience with experimentation, feature flags, instrumentation, analytics, and product or quality-of-experience metrics. Familiarity with Jetpack Compose, Android accessibility, Media3 or ExoPlayer, MediaCodec, HLS or DASH, recommendation systems, or ML-integrated products is a plus.
