CNC MACHINIST (MATERIALS LABS)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate a variety of machine shop equipment including, but not limited to; CNC mill (horizontal and vertical spindle), CNC lathe, wire EDM, manual mill/lathe, waterjet, and all other typical machine shop equipment
  • Support mechanical test lab with metallic test specimen machining for tensile and fracture toughness, as well as fixture machining/repair
  • Perform product inspection and rework as required
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings with an understanding for drawing symbols, flag notes, and general notes
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of production machinery

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 1+ years of professional experience running CNC vertical milling centers, CNC turning centers or wire EDM

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of experience in test specimen machining
  • Proficiency with typical precision measurement tools such as dial indicators, bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other common inspection tools
  • Experience with Fanuc, Sodick machine tool controls
  • Ability to read engineering prints, proficient interpretation of GD&T feature interpretation
  • Desire to work collaboratively across several teams as needed to complete projects requiring multiple disciplines
  • Knowledge of CAM software (Mastercam/Esprit/Fusion 360 with FeatureCAM)
  • Strong communication skills and a desire to help achieve company goals in a dynamic and challenging environment

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Able to travel for short trips as needed
  • Able to wear appropriate PPE for mechanical testing and machine shop environment
  • Able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs. unassisted, no more than 50 lbs
  • Standing for long periods of time, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching are generally required to perform the functions of this position
  • Ability to work either 1st or 2nd shifts as well as overtime and weekends as needed; estimated shift times: 1st shift: 5:00 am - 2:30 pm; 2nd shift: 11:00 am - 8:30 pm
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:
Level 1: $23.00 - $27.00
Level 2: $26.00 - $32.50
Level 3: $31.00 - $38.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
