From the original posting

This is a high-impact strategic role that serves as the voice of MongoDB's most important customers at the executive level. The Customer Advocate, Core Products will act as a trusted advisor to the Chief Product Officer, driving cross-functional alignment to ensure that customer feedback, escalations, and long-term success are deeply embedded in MongoDB's core product strategy.

This role is critical to bridging the gap between our customers' most pressing challenges and the product roadmap. You will partner with product leadership, engineering, sales, and customer success to identify patterns in customer experience, surface strategic opportunities, and ensure MongoDB's core products continuously evolve to meet the needs of our highest-value customers and partners.

You will operate with visibility and influence at the highest levels of the organization, serving as a strategic partner who elevates the customer's voice in executive decision-making and product development priorities.

This role can be based out of any MongoDB U.S. office or remotely within the United States

Role Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary strategic liaison between MongoDB's core product organization and its most important customers, ensuring their needs are heard, prioritized, acted upon, and ultimately addressed.
  • Develop and execute a forward-looking customer advocacy strategy in collaboration with the CPO and senior product leadership
  • Build and maintain deep relationships with executive stakeholders at strategic customer accounts, acting as their trusted partner and escalation point for core product concerns
  • Drive an effective, structured process for customer engagement — from initial qualification and discovery through executive narrative development, action tracking, and closed-loop follow-up
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success to surface high-signal customer feedback and translate it into actionable product insights and roadmap influence
  • Lead preparation for and participate in executive customer meetings — shaping the narrative, representing product commitments, and ensuring clarity on follow-up actions and accountability
  • Establish a deep, technical fluency in MongoDB's core product portfolio to credibly represent product capabilities and limitations in customer conversations
  • Define and track key success measures for the CPO's customer engagement motion, including quarterly analysis of outcomes and areas for improvement
  • Contribute to the development and scaling of best practices in customer engagement across the organization, elevating the standard for how MongoDB partners with its most strategic accounts
  • Leverage AI tools and data-driven insights to identify trends across customer interactions, proactively surface risk or opportunity, and inform executive prioritization

Role Requirements

  • 10+ years of work experience, or 8+ years ideally in SaaS product management, consulting, enterprise sales strategy, or customer success leadership
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Sharp business judgment with the ability to see the big picture while also driving disciplined execution on the details; strong instinct for prioritization in high-ambiguity environments
  • Demonstrated success influencing product direction through customer advocacy, executive engagement, or voice-of-customer programs at scale
  • Executive presence — exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft and deliver compelling narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences at the C-suite level
  • Proven ability to drive cross-functional alignment and resolve conflict across diverse stakeholder groups, including Engineering, Product, Sales, Legal, and Customer Success
  • Deep problem-solver mindset with a track record of understanding and fulfilling complex customer needs, including translating ambiguous feedback into clear, actionable product signals
  • Experience working in or alongside a product organization, with sufficient technical fluency to engage credibly on platform capabilities, integrations, and roadmap tradeoffs
  • Demonstrated exceptional learning agility — able to rapidly internalize new product domains, market dynamics, and customer contexts
  • Experience leveraging AI tools and analytical platforms (Tableau, Salesforce, or equivalents) to derive insights from customer data and support decision-making
  • High energy, strong work ethic, and disciplined execution skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple high-priority engagements simultaneously and have the ability to drive urgency with each one
  • Comfort with ambiguity and organizational change; action-oriented and adaptable
  • Willingness to travel for customer and partner meetings, up to 50% of the time
