About The Role
Volta is building AI factories across Europe and North America. The Data Center Manager runs our AI factory in Tydal, Norway, and is accountable for its safety, security, uptime, reliability and efficient operation. The role reports to the Regional Director of Operations and leads the on-site operations team, including the Critical Facility Manager and the IT Infrastructure Manager. You own the site's critical facility infrastructure across power and cooling, oversee the deployment and maintenance of IT infrastructure, make sure customer SLAs are consistently met and hold vendors and contractors to account. You are the main on-site contact for customers, auditors and suppliers, and you drive continuous improvement in site processes, energy efficiency and service quality. This is a 24x7x365 mission-critical environment. The role is based at Tydal or within commuting distance, with an on-call escalation rotation and occasional travel to other sites and supplier facilities.
What You Will Be Doing
Own the operation, monitoring and maintenance of the critical power and cooling infrastructure at Tydal
Run preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes so every critical asset is maintained to OEM recommendations
Own capacity across power, cooling and space, and produce the forecasts that support customer growth and expansion
Drive energy efficiency to improve PUE and WUE, and make sure BMS, EPMS and DCIM alarms are acted on and their data is accurate
Oversee MOPs, SOPs and EOPs for all critical work, and enforce change management across every operational activity on site
Plan and coordinate IT infrastructure deployments, including racks, containment, structured cabling, cross-connects and meet-me room equipment, and manage customer installations from design review through to handover and acceptance
Keep asset inventory, rack elevations, power chain and cabling records accurate, and make sure every deployment meets power density, cooling, weight-loading and cabling standards
Act as the main on-site contact for customers, make sure contractual SLAs are met or exceeded, manage the ticketing process and lead monthly and quarterly service reviews
Lead incident management and communication during unplanned events, run root cause analysis and see corrective actions through
Select, contract and manage vendors and OEMs for maintenance, IT services, security, cleaning, fire protection and other site services, and make sure contractors on site work under MOPs, permits-to-work and safety requirements
Lead and develop the on-site operations team, including shift scheduling, on-call rotations, training and performance management
Own the site operating budget and contribute to capital planning for lifecycle replacement, upgrades and expansion
Maintain health and safety compliance, physical security, business continuity and disaster recovery plans, and prepare the site for audits, customer inspections and emergency drills
What You Bring
Data centre operations experience is essential. You have 8+ years in mission-critical facility or data centre operations, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role

Hands-on knowledge of the critical electrical and mechanical systems that make a data centre run, including UPS, generators, switchgear, chillers, CRAH/CRAC and BMS/EPMS
A record of delivering colocation, hyperscale or enterprise data centre services against customer SLAs
Experience managing vendors, contracts and operating budgets, with the commercial judgement to negotiate well and control cost
Calm, structured incident management and root cause analysis under pressure, and a rigorous commitment to safety, process and documentation
The leadership to build and develop a high-performing site team, and the communication skills to hold the customer relationship
Working knowledge of DCIM, CMMS, BMS and ticketing systems
Certifications such as CDCP/CDCS/CDCE, Uptime Institute ATD/AOS, CDFOM, ITIL Foundation, PMP, NEBOSH or OSHA are an advantage
