Employer Engagement Manager, Tri-Share, West Virginia

Level: Individual Contributor
Location: West Virginia, field-based with statewide travel

Position Summary

Wonderschool administers the West Virginia Tri-Share Child Care Program on behalf of the State of West Virginia. Tri-Share is a child care cost-sharing model in which participating employers contribute toward eligible employees’ child care tuition, the State of West Virginia provides a matching contribution based on household income, and employees pay the remaining balance. Wonderschool manages enrollment, billing, payments, and ongoing program support.

The Employer Engagement Manager is the field-based growth leader responsible for recruiting and enrolling West Virginia employers in Tri-Share. This is a consultative, relationship-driven sales role: the successful candidate is not asking businesses to buy a product, but to invest in a practical employee benefit that strengthens recruitment, retention, attendance, and workforce stability.

This role requires a visible, trusted presence across West Virginia. The ideal candidate understands that this is a person-to-person, relationship market and is energized by building credibility one conversation, one community, and one employer at a time.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage an employer pipeline by identifying, prioritizing, and cultivating employers across West Virginia where child care challenges affect hiring, retention, attendance, or productivity.

  • Maintain a consistent in-person presence at Rotary Club meetings, chambers of commerce, economic development authority meetings, HR and industry gatherings, and local business events where employers convene.

  • Use discovery conversations to understand each employer’s workforce needs and communicate how Tri-Share can support recruitment, retention, productivity, and working parents.

  • Guide business owners, executives, and HR leaders through the Tri-Share model, employer contribution options, State matching structure, and low administrative lift of participation.

  • Move qualified employers from initial conversation through application, enrollment, and launch in coordination with the Tri-Share operations team.

  • Build referral networks with chambers, EDAs, trade associations, workforce organizations, business service providers, and trusted local leaders who can champion the program.

  • Create disciplined travel, outreach, and follow-up plans; maintain accurate CRM records for activity, pipeline, relationships, and enrollment progress.

  • Tailor presentations and employer ROI conversations using program data, workforce trends, and local success stories.

  • Represent employer feedback internally, sharing market insights, objections, partnership opportunities, and employer needs with program, marketing, and leadership teams.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of success in employer engagement, B2B sales, partnerships, economic development, workforce development, benefits consulting, or a similarly consultative external-facing role.

  • Strong appreciation for West Virginia’s local, relationship-based business culture. Established statewide or regional networks are strongly preferred.

  • Exceptional in-person communication skills, including the ability to engage owners, executives, HR leaders, community partners, and civic leaders in formal and informal settings.

  • Demonstrated consultative sales ability: uncovering a business problem, making a clear value case, managing a multi-touch decision process, and respectfully asking for commitment.

  • Comfort operating independently in a high-travel field role while managing a pipeline, documenting activity, meeting goals, and coordinating closely with remote teammates.

  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently throughout West Virginia, including occasional early-morning, evening, or community-event commitments. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

  • Belief that affordable, reliable child care is a workforce and economic-development issue, and enthusiasm for helping employers become part of the solution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active relationships with West Virginia employers, chambers, EDAs, Rotary Clubs, trade associations, workforce organizations, or industry groups.

  • Experience with employee benefits, public-private partnerships, child care, workforce initiatives, or social-impact programs.

  • Ability to use basic ROI, retention, absenteeism, or workforce data to support employer decision-making.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means becoming a recognized and trusted Tri-Share ambassador across West Virginia; creating a strong and active employer pipeline; enrolling employers that can meaningfully support working parents; and building durable community partnerships that help Tri-Share expand statewide.

This person will succeed by showing up consistently, listening closely, making the employer case for child care investment, and helping business leaders see Tri-Share as a practical workforce solution rather than simply another benefit expense.
