About Base

Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

About the Role

As a Factory Construction Intern, you’ll get hands-on experience bringing a factory to life - designing and standing up the processes that make our products real. You’ll work alongside engineers, operators, and builders in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, contributing to everything from facility layouts to construction progress tracking. This is a chance to learn by doing, where your work will directly shape how we deliver affordable energy at scale.

What You’ll Do

  • Support coordination between civil engineering team and manufacturing team to align facility design with production requirements.

  • Assist with reviewing interior build-out plans, MEP layouts, warehouse racking, and equipment move-in logistics to ensure efficient setup and compliance with requirements.

  • Participate in design and construction meetings, capturing action items and tracking progress on civil-related deliverables.

  • Contribute to quantity takeoffs, cost tracking, and documentation for civil works tied to the factory build.

  • Conduct field visits to observe construction activities, verify work against plans, and report findings to the project team.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage details across multiple stakeholders.

  • Interest in facility design, construction methods, and how they intersect with manufacturing operations.

  • Ability to read or interpret construction drawings, layouts, and technical documentation.

  • Eagerness to participate in fieldwork, site walks, and hands-on problem solving.

  • Analytical mindset for tracking costs, quantities, and progress against plans.

  • Clear communication skills for documenting action items and sharing findings with cross-functional teams.

  • Proactive, “learn by doing” attitude with willingness to dive into new technical areas.

About the Team

The Infrastructure & Development team builds and maintains the physical foundation that enables Base Power to operate and grow. We own the full lifecycle of capital projects—factory builds, manufacturing line installations, and headquarters—acting as the primary stewards of our physical footprint. We move fast, make decisions with confidence, and hold our design and construction partners to a high standard. Every project we deliver creates the physical conditions for Base Power to scale.

Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.

Our Values

  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.

  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.

  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.

  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.

  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.

  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.

  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.

Do the best work of your life at Base.
