The Role

Halter is a phase of incredible expansion with hardware right at our core. There are immense challenges and huge opportunities ahead as we grow into new geographies and work towards becoming the operating system for the next generation of agriculture. Our hardware needs to withstand everything from extreme temperatures to cows fighting each other all while continuing to function seamlessly. This requires a technical team with world-class talent, which is where you come in.

Delivery is a new function dedicated to helping engineers and technical teams across Halter do their best work. As the company scales, there is a growing need to keep all the teams working in lock-step with each other. One of the most critical jobs at Halter is to make sure that priorities are aligned and vague, nebulous problems get turned into firm, actionable plans. That’s where you come in.

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for making sure the right people are in the room as you discuss project roadmaps and how to keep things on track. You will see around corners and highlight risks that other teammates did not think of. You will make sure that overhead and unnecessary processes are stripped away so that technical teams have the time and space to execute. You will make sure that all projects are moving at maximum velocity coupled with driving clarity on the path forward across all hardware and operations teams.

Your success will be measured by delivery of projects into mass production. This includes how well you navigated the team through obstacles and the speed at which those problems are resolved.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate delivering projects across current and future hardware programs. This involves working across hardware design, firmware, reliability, production, operations, and supply chain teams.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships across every discipline. Understand each team's constraints and dependencies well enough to anticipate problems and bring the right people together before things slow down.

  • Lead programs with a lightweight delivery cadence. Make sure that technical teams are not bogged down with process but are aware of what everyone’s responsibilities are and how to move the project forward.

  • Drive clarity and ensure people across the organization and levels are crystal clear about the state of projects and next steps. Be an expert at distilling confusing threads into clear summaries and next steps.

  • Surface trade-offs early and cleanly so decision-makers can move fast.

  • Ensure that engineering builds happen on-time and remove blockers during build execution.

What You Bring

  • Experience driving complex hardware products from development through to production across cross-functional teams

  • Hardware engineering experience. Engineering degree preferred but not required.

  • A mindset for urgency. Everything we work on in the hardware space directly impacts farmers and the company, so velocity is the name of the game.

  • A knack for clear communication. You bias towards zero-inbox and make sure no details get missed without filling slack channels with unnecessary information.

  • Willingness to travel to Asia. A lot of our job requires being hands-on at the factory and supplier sites, and you should have experience in factory environments and influencing suppliers to achieve fast results.

  • Openness to wearing multiple hats. As a scale-up, Halter is still young in its journey to build out the hardware organization. You are not afraid to do what it takes to get projects across the line, even if it does not fall explicitly within your job description.

  • Low ego and comfortable with discomfort. You lean into hard conversations, raise the awkward thing early, and never shy away from tension when it needs to be resolved. You have strong opinions and a desire to solve all kinds of problems, but you hold those opinions loosely and change your mind fast when someone has a better answer.

  • You're fun and a joy to work with. Hardware delivery is intense. You bring energy, humour, and optimism, and people are better for having you around.

Why our team loves working at Halter:

  • Work that genuinely matters. Every now and again a company comes along that transforms an entire industry and leaves the world in a better place. Our team gets to be part of something truly meaningful, helping farmers improve their livelihoods, spend more time with their families, and build more sustainable operations.
