About Base

Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

About the Role

We're looking for a Junior HR Business Partner to support our frontline installer, manufacturing and warehouse teams. You'll be on the floor, not behind a desk as the go-to person for shift leads, associates, technicians, and installers when they have a question, a concern, or a problem that needs solving. You'll partner with the Frontline HRBP while owning real day-to-day work across our factory floor.

This role is a great fit for someone who wants to be a true advocate for our people while also serving as a support pillar for our leaders.

What You’ll Do

  • Be a visible, trusted presence on the factory floor - answering questions, hearing concerns, and building relationships with hourly employees and shift leads.

  • Support new hires joining the installer, production, and warehouse teams including assisting with onboarding and check-ins.

  • Handle frontline employee relations issues - attendance, conduct, safety concerns, and interpersonal conflicts - documenting and escalating appropriately.

  • Support scheduling and attendance policy administration, including tracking points, leave requests, and multi-shift needs.

  • Help coordinate policy roll outs and other floor-level communication.

  • Track turnover, absenteeism, and engagement trends on the floor and flag patterns to the Frontline HRBP Lead.

  • Conduct skip levels, round tables and AMA sessions on the floor to ensure a clear path for questions and escalation for factory employees.

What You'll Bring

  • 1-3 years of experience in HR, people operations, or a related generalist role - manufacturing, warehouse, retail, or other frontline/hourly environments strongly preferred.

  • Comfortable with being on the floor daily, not just a desk - this role requires visibility and presence in the Factory.

  • Strong sense of discretion and judgement handling sensitive employee situations.

  • A working knowledge of employment law, leave and employee relations.

  • Clear, calm communication. You can navigate a hard conversation with an hourly employee or a shift lead with equal ease.

  • Detail oriented and organized, comfortable managing multiple employee asks/cases across multiple shifts at once.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where processes are still being built.

  • A genuine interest in frontline work and the people who do it, you understand that HR here means being present, not just being available.

  • Willingness to travel to other warehouses and flex across multiple shifts as needed (roughly 5-10% of the time).

About the Team

HR at Base works from the floor up. We sit inside the factory, close to the people building and installing our batteries, so we're the connection between leadership and the floor, not a layer between them. We own the full lifecycle for employees: onboarding, day-to-day support, offboarding. We're proactive, not reactive. Instead of waiting for an exit interview to tell us what went wrong, we're building the programs and relationships that catch problems while they're still small.

Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.

Our Values

  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.

  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.

  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.

  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.

  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.

  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.

  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.

Do the best work of your life at Base.
