INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST

As part of the SpaceX Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) team, you will be the responsible owner of Hawthorne Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics Programs. This position will be responsible for ensuring that industrial hygiene and ergonomic practices are integrated into all aspects of the SpaceX workplace.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the site’s subject matter expert for the industrial hygiene program.
  • Serve as the site’s subject matter expert for the ergonomic program.
  • Conduct on-site reviews of work processes and layouts to identify ergonomic stressors, develop common sense solutions, and follow through on implementation of solutions.
  • Develop and implement solutions that resolve industrial hygiene and ergonomic risks.
  • Lead root cause investigations into significant events within the field of expertise.
  • Develop, implement, and improve upon industrial hygiene programs including but not limited to:
    • Industrial and office ergonomics
    • Respiratory protection
    • Chemical hygiene
    • Exposure control planning
  • Develop and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and/or guidelines established by OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, and other applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with EHS team members to complete job hazard assessments and provide subject matter expertise consultative support for industrial hygiene and ergonomic hazards.
  • Conduct on-site reviews of industrial hygiene processes with a focus on hazard identification and control.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of professional experience in the field of industrial hygiene with an emphasis on ergonomics

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Bachelor's degree in an industrial hygiene discipline (e.g. biology, chemistry, human factors)
  • Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE)
  • Extensive knowledge of both industrial hygiene and ergonomic job functions highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to research and apply engineering solutions to industrial hygiene and ergonomic risks
  • Experience interpreting, applying and documenting federal, state and local safety and health regulations
  • Experience in the space launch industry including manufacturing, test, and launch
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year

Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
