From the original posting

About the role:

We are searching for an experienced and ambitious Key Account Management Lead to build and lead Halter's enterprise Key Account program in Queensland. We're looking for someone with proven management capability, deep account growth expertise, commercial edge, and the ability to inspire a team while driving real customer outcomes.

You will be building from the ground up; developing the strategy, team structure, and playbooks that scale Halter's presence with large enterprise cattle producers across Queensland. You'll lead a team of Key Account Managers, each managing a portfolio of strategic enterprise accounts from pilot stage through to full-scale integration with Halter technology. You'll own the growth strategy, manage key relationships at all levels, and ensure our enterprise partners realize the full value of their investment.

You'll thrive in a high-stakes, fast-moving environment where autonomy, judgment, and drive matter. You might find yourself building the playbook one week, negotiating a multi-million-dollar expansion the next, coaching a KAM through a critical deal by Friday, and presenting strategy to the exec team the following week. You'll masterfully navigate complex organizational structures, adjust your communication with ranch managers, general managers, and boards alike, and know when to guide, when to challenge, and when to step in to unlock value.

This isn't a typical role. This is a foundational role in building Halter's enterprise presence in a new region. You'll be making a real-world impact, helping Queensland's largest cattle producers become more productive and sustainable. You'll build relationships with influential ranching leaders while working closely with Halter's leadership team and supporting a commercial team across the region. You'll help shape what great account management looks like as we scale into new markets.

Frequent travel across Queensland and Northern Territory is required as part of the position.

What your day could look like:

  • Team Leadership & Development: You'll build and lead the Queensland KAM team from the ground up—setting the vision, hiring the right people, and coaching them to excellence. You'll establish rituals, create scalable playbooks, and ensure every KAM is set up for success. You'll conduct account reviews, coach deal strategy, and hold your team accountable to ambitious growth targets.

  • Account Portfolio Strategy: You'll own the strategic direction of Halter's enterprise relationships in Queensland. You'll work closely with our commercial team to develop account tiering, expansion strategies, and identify growth opportunities within your portfolio. You'll know your key accounts inside-out and play a critical role in shaping how we grow in-market.

  • Customer Success at Scale: You'll be embedded in the success of Halter's largest and most strategic customers—ensuring they realize full value from their investment. You'll understand their goals deeply, help them embed Halter into daily operations, drive customer success initiatives, and surface impact across the business. Your efforts will directly influence retention, expansion, and long-term growth.

  • Executive & Stakeholder Engagement: You'll work directly with senior leaders, boards, and multi-entity decision-makers. You'll understand organizational structures, surface strategic pain points, and partner with internal teams to tailor solutions that move the needle. You'll be known and respected as a trusted Halter advisor at the highest levels.

  • Growth & Expansion Leadership: You'll collaborate with Business Development and Sales leadership to co-create account growth strategies, drive territory expansion, and identify new revenue streams. You'll play a key role in building the business case for new investments and managing the execution of expansion opportunities across your accounts.

  • Cross-functional Leadership: You'll work closely with Halter's product, support, and sales teams to champion your accounts internally. You'll surface product feedback, coordinate training, align on rollout strategies, and be the glue that holds enterprise relationships together and drives results.

  • Forecasting & Planning: You'll contribute to accurate revenue forecasting and strategic planning. You'll bring rigor to account performance tracking, identify early signals of both risk and growth, and present insights to leadership on pipeline health and business trajectory.

  • Scalable Growth Initiatives: You'll help build how we support and grow our largest customers at scale. From refining account management strategies to building playbooks that can be replicated as we expand into new regions, you'll be part of the team shaping what great looks like as Halter scales globally.

Who are we looking for:

  • Team leadership track record – You've managed and developed high-performing sales or account management teams. You know how to hire for culture and capability, coach people to greatness, and build a team culture that attracts talent.

  • Enterprise account experience – You've managed large, complex accounts and driven growth over time. You're comfortable navigating executive rooms, multiple stakeholders, and complex business structures. You know how to identify expansion opportunities and move them to close.

  • Industry fluency – You bring real experience in agricultural systems or rural enterprise operations and know what success looks like in a modern, large-scale farming business. You're credible, informed, and customer-first.

  • Strong commercial instincts – You don't just nurture relationships; you find value, expand accounts, and deliver results. You understand business economics and know how to quantify and communicate impact.

  • Strategic thinking – You can build a plan, see around corners, and adapt as circumstances change. You can balance strategic vision with tactical execution and know how to make the tough calls.

  • Autonomy & pace – You're happy working independently in a fast-changing environment. You solve problems proactively, adjust quickly, and thrive with ambiguity. You don't wait for permission.

  • Team-first mindset – You collaborate across roles and functions to get the best outcome for the customer and the company. You lift your team and the broader organization.

  • Growth hunger – You're looking to stretch yourself, take on more, and grow your career alongside a world-class commercial team. You're excited by the challenge of building something new.

  • Travel-ready – You'll be regularly out with customers, your team, and regional partners - being in the room, the paddock, or the boardroom when it counts.

Halter in Australia:

Halter entered Tasmania two years ago and has rapidly expanded to now have 20% of the state's dairy herd with Halter - a thriving customer base managed by a talented, local team. Halter recently entered Queensland and NSW, and now has a growing team and customer base across both states.

In Victoria and South Australia, Halter is preparing to launch operations following recent regulatory approval for virtual fencing. In Western Australia, Halter does not yet have customers. In these states there is a groundswell of demand for Halter across thousands of farmers. In Australia, virtual fencing is regulated by individual states' animal welfare legislation. Until recently, several states had legislation that did not permit farmers to use high-quality virtual fencing technology. With NSW parliament's announcement regulating virtual fencing, and Victoria and South Australia following suit, these barriers are now lifting.

Why our team loves working at Halter:

  • Work that genuinely matters. Every now and again a company comes along that transforms an entire industry and leaves the world in a better place. Our team gets to be part of something truly meaningful, helping farmers improve their livelihoods, spend more time with their families, and build more sustainable operations.
