The opportunity

  • Review and evaluate incoming subpoenas, court orders, and other global legal document requests to verify their legitimacy and authority.

  • Determine the scope of records requested and coordinate directly with serving agencies to clarify scope, format, and required deadlines.

  • Research Kraken's internal systems thoroughly to identify and compile the records responsive to each request, in line with global laws and regulations.

  • Log and maintain accurate, detailed records of every request and communication in Kraken's law enforcement request management platform (Kodex), from intake through closure.

  • Follow up as needed with serving agencies and internal departments to keep requests moving and deadlines on track.

  • Support departmental projects related to legal request processing, including maintaining procedures and preparing management information reporting as assigned.

  • Understand and adhere to Kraken's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls; identify and escalate risk where appropriate.

  • Partner with Compliance, Legal, Corporate Security, and other Kraken teams to answer questions and resolve issues tied to subpoenas and other record requests.

  • Escalate complex or sensitive issues to management promptly, maintaining confidentiality throughout.

  • Contribute feedback to ongoing improvements in the internal policies and processes that govern how legal document requests are handled.

 

What you bring

  • 2+ years of experience at a crypto exchange, financial services company, law enforcement/regulatory liaison role, or as a paralegal, preferred.

  • Familiarity with U.S. and/or European court systems is a plus

  • High level of comfort with technology and computer systems, including intermediate proficiency with MacOS, Microsoft and Google applications.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and track a high volume of concurrent requests without letting details slip.

  • Detail oriented and able to communicate with tact and professionalism.

  • Comfortable working under tight, often shifting deadlines across multiple concurrent requests.

  • Takes ownership of their work product and consistently delivers results.

  • Adaptable and comfortable navigating not just a shifting regulatory environment, but also evolving internal processes, team growth and changes, and new systems and tooling.

  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information with sound judgment and maturity.

  • Proven ability to work across multiple internal systems concurrently to gather and analyze data.
