Manager, Legislative Counsel

Lyft is looking for a Legislative Counsel to join our fast-growing and fast-paced team. Based in Washington D.C this stellar individual will be directly involved in shaping the policy framework for the evolving ridesharing industry as a pivotal part of our Public Policy team.

Responsibilities:

• Provide legal expertise to Lyft’s Public Policy team on legislative issues.
• Track, analyze, and evaluate proposed legislation across topic areas, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Draft legislative language, amendments, and recommendations that reflect the interests of Lyft’s users and business.
• Identify legislative trends and develop responsive strategies across subject matters and jurisdictions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to assess legislative impacts and inform decision-making.
• Partner with Lyft’s regional Public Policy team members on market-specific legislative efforts.
• Develop leading expertise on a specific issue area, in coordination with their manager.
• Coordinate with Lyft’s compliance, legal, and operations teams as new regulatory frameworks are implemented.

Experience:

• Law degree required.
• 5+ years of experience with legislative drafting for a local, state and/or federal legislative body, or at a trade association or company.
• Exceptional ability to critically analyze policy and legal issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding (and sometimes unstructured) environment.
• Self-starter; intrinsically motivated.
• Experience with insurance, transportation, technology, AI, privacy, or labor and employment law a plus but not required

Lyft highly values having employees working in-office to foster a collaborative work environment and company culture. This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The expected base pay range for this position in the Washington D.C. area is $118,000 - $147,500, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
