About the Role
We're looking for Mechatronics Integration Engineers who are curious, hands-on, and excited to deliver impactful features at the intersection of software, hardware, and real-world customer environments. In this role, you'll work across software and hardware systems to ensure seamless full-system integration for customer delivery — both in the lab and in the field.
At Applied Intuition, you will:
Own end-to-end product development process of Applied's autonomy and drive-by-wire system and lead integrations from initial setup through steady-state operations
Build a deep understanding of mining vehicle system architecture and software-hardware interactions, including reverse-engineering third-party systems
Design and evaluate sensors, actuators, and communication technologies into existing vehicle systems
Lead the embedded application development and integration of the electromechanical systems into mining vehicle platforms
Act as the primary technical expertise for firmware/mechatronics systems: triage issues, collect logs/telemetry, reproduce problems, and coordinate fixes with the Hardware/Firmware development team while keeping customers unblocked
Partner with customer operations teams to establish operating procedures, training, and go/no-go criteria
We're looking for someone who has:
2+ years of experience in software integration or development
BS or MS in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
Strong understanding of electromechanical systems, including assembly, setup, and debugging
Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals and software/firmware engineering, especially for real-time embedded control applications (C programming, FreeRTOS, microcontroller)
Strong communication skills and comfort acting as the primary customer-facing engineer on-site
Experience with system debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters
Ability to work independently, own outcomes, and make sound technical decisions in the field
Willingness to travel to customer sites, including internationally
Comfortable working in active industrial or field environments
Nice to have:
Background in autonomous vehicle development domains
Experience working with CAN (J1939), ethernet, and other automotive communication protocols
Experience in full life cycle of embedded application development (C/C++)
Experience with harness and circuit design (e.g., schematic drawing, board layout) as well as manufacturing
Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks/CATIA) and rapid prototyping techniques (e.g., 3D printing)
Familiarity with Linux development and bash scripting
Foundational knowledge of automotive systems, including schematic reading, power and communication network topology, powertrain behavior, and system architecture
MSHA certified to operate on mine sites
