About Base

Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

About the Role

As a New Product Introduction (NPI) Technician at Base, you’ll play a hands-on role in bringing new battery products and manufacturing processes from early prototypes to full production. You’ll support prototype builds, validate manufacturing processes, and ensure each trial meets product specifications. Along the way, you’ll document observations, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help refine processes that will eventually scale across our production lines. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering and manufacturing while helping turn new ideas into real, scalable products.

What You’ll Do

  • Support prototype builds and trial runs for new products and manufacturing processes

  • Assist in validating manufacturing processes to ensure product specifications are consistently achieved

  • Test and validate systems and components to support quality assurance procedures

  • Document observations during build trials and capture the state of assembly and process performance

  • Read and follow manufacturing instructions, mechanical drawings, and basic electrical documentation

  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to evaluate and refine production processes

  • Provide feedback during change control and process improvement discussions

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience supporting prototype builds, pre-production runs, or early manufacturing trials

  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems

  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing instructions and mechanical drawings, with basic electrical knowledge

  • High level of craftsmanship and attention to detail while maintaining speed and efficiency

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

  • Comfortable working across multiple projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams

  • Reliable, proactive, and quality-focused with strong initiative

About This Team

The New Product Introduction (NPI) team is responsible for bridging the gap between engineering design and scalable manufacturing at Base. Every prototype build, process validation, and trial run helps transform early concepts into reliable production systems. Your work will directly shape how our batteries are built at scale, refining the processes that power the factories of the future. As part of this team, you’ll collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams while gaining exposure to cutting-edge battery technology and advanced production systems.

Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.

Our Values

  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.

  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.

  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.

  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.

  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
