P.S: We highly recommend reading The "API-First World" graphic novel to understand the bigger picture and our vision at Postman.

The Opportunity

Postman is now at one of the most consequential inflection points in its history. Enterprises are rapidly shifting from human-driven API workflows to multi-agent systems — where AI agents autonomously discover, call, and collaborate with APIs, tools, CLIs, and each other. Postman already owns the API design, governance, and lifecycle layer for the enterprise; the next frontier is owning the runtime layer for how agents actually interact with all of it.

Where Postman today is the API platform for human-first integration, we are building Postman into the agent interface fabric for AI-first integration. That transformation starts with Fabric Gateway — a brand new product, being built from scratch, that will serve as the policy-driven control plane governing how agents connect to APIs, services, and other agents at scale. This is a rare 0-to-1 opportunity inside a company with 40+ million developers already in the ecosystem.

About the Team

The Fabric Gateway team is building the API gateway for the AI era — one of Postman's most ambitious greenfield infrastructure products. We're a small, high-ownership team working 0-to-1, designing and shipping the foundational primitives that will power how agents and applications connect to services securely, at scale.

This isn't incremental work. We're building from scratch — making the kind of decisions that define a product's architecture for years. If you've built platform or infrastructure products at a cloud-native or SaaS company and know what it takes to go from zero to a production system engineers trust, you'll feel right at home here.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and own critical systems of the Fabric Gateway from the ground up — this is founding-level engineering work.
  • Lead architecture decisions for distributed systems that need to be fast, reliable, and correct at scale — handling high request volumes across a diverse ecosystem of services.
  • Drive technical direction and make high-leverage decisions; you'll be setting patterns the rest of the team follows.
  • Own observability, performance, and reliability end-to-end — SLA targets, monitoring, and on-call are your personal responsibility, not a handoff.
  • Collaborate closely with the EM and PM to scope milestones, prioritize ruthlessly, and iterate toward Early Access and GA.
  • Participate in design and code reviews, raise engineering standards, and mentor fellow engineers.

About You

  • 6+ years of experience building infrastructure-level or platform software in cloud-native or SaaS environments.
  • Proven 0-to-1 track record — you've taken something from whiteboard to production and operated it at scale.
  • Deep systems design expertise: you've built distributed systems that handle high throughput, stay resilient under load, and scale horizontally without breaking operational simplicity.
  • Proficiency in Go. Strong fundamentals in systems programming and performance-sensitive code are essential.
  • Solid grasp of security primitives: mTLS, JWT, OAuth 2.0, RBAC/ABAC.
  • High ownership mindset — reliability, performance, and security are your problem, not someone else's ticket.
  • Strong communication skills; comfortable driving clarity in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience building or extending platform or gateway products.
  • Familiarity with modern protocol ecosystems (HTTP/2, gRPC, WebSockets).
  • Kubernetes-native deployment experience: Helm, operators, CRDs.
  • Contributions to open-source infrastructure or developer tooling projects.
  • Experience working in an early-stage 0-to-1 environment inside a larger company.
