Joblaze insights
Quick facts
From the original posting
As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll take new software products and major features from 0 to 1: from early ideas around product strategy and customer problems to a working product in customers’ hands. You’ll help decide what to build, validate the opportunity, shape the features, and work closely with product and engineering to ship it. You’ll stay involved after launch to learn from real usage and keep improving the experience.
You’ll have substantial ownership of your projects and an active role in shaping product direction. We expect you to bring original product and feature ideas, spot opportunities in customer needs, and turn promising concepts into prototypes we can test and ship. You’ll take initiative, drive decisions with your partners, and keep work moving through ambiguity.
This fully remote role reports to the Head of Product Design and is open to candidates located anywhere in the continental US.
Frame the right problems. Synthesize customer feedback, research, product data, and business context to identify opportunities and make priorities clear.
Shape what we build next. Generate and pressure-test product ideas with product and engineering, using prototypes and customer input to turn them into a clear direction.
Own the path from idea to launch. Take concepts through flows, functional prototypes, and production-ready interfaces, and stay accountable for the customer experience through release and early iterations.
Prototype to learn. Build high-fidelity prototypes with realistic data and interactions to share ideas, gather feedback from the team and customers, and refine or discard concepts before committing to implementation.
Build with AI tools. Use tools like Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor to prototype, iterate with engineers, and improve your work, applying your own judgment to quality, usability, and accessibility.
Bring strong craft. Make complex workflows clear through information architecture, interaction design, visual hierarchy, and content, including accessibility, responsive behavior, and edge cases.
Drive decisions and make tradeoffs. Align partners, surface risks, and balance user value, feasibility, and delivery constraints with a clear point of view.
Close the loop after launch. Define success with the team and use qualitative and quantitative evidence to guide iteration.
Strengthen the team. Contribute to shared design patterns, give constructive critique, and mentor peers.
5-8+ years of product design experience and a portfolio showing your process, your personal contributions, and the reasoning behind key decisions
Proven 0 to1 experience: you’ve owned design for a new product or substantial feature from initial idea through launch, and can explain how you handled ambiguity, validated the problem, scoped the first release, and learned from customer use
Strong interaction and visual design craft, including complete flows beyond the happy path, accessibility, and reusable components
Strong product instincts, with a track record of contributing ideas grounded in customer needs
Hands-on prototyping ability in Figma and at least one AI coding tool (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar)
Experience with design systems used across multiple teams, AI products, marketing workflows, or complex enterprise software
Familiarity with shipping design changes through GitHub pull requests and working through code review with engineers
A strong collaborative track record with product and engineering, including building alignment and adapting to constraints
Skill using research and data to inform design decisions
