Who We Are

Verkada is transforming how organizations protect their people and places with an integrated, privacy-sensitive AI-powered platform that includes solutions for video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management.

We’ve got serious momentum in the market: more than 30,000 customers (including 100+ of the Fortune 500), a $5.8B valuation, more than $1 billion in annualized bookings, and backing from CapitalG, Sequoia Capital, General Catalyst, Felicis Ventures, Next47 and more. Physical AI is one of the most consequential technology shifts of our time, and Verkada is at the center of it.

You can look at all kinds of communities to see our platform’s impact in the world. It's the retailer that uses our agentic AI to deter theft before it happens. The warehouse that uses AI-powered alerts to make sure its team is protected on the floor with proper PPE. The school that’s alerted to a threat in real-time and triggers a lockdown in seconds, not minutes. We’re rapidly scaling this impact: today, more than 2 million Verkada devices are deployed across 170+ countries.

About the Role

As a Test Engineer for the Alarms team, you will be responsible for ensuring the absolute reliability of our mission-critical security hardware and software. You'll be working across the entire stack, building the Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test infrastructure, writing automation, and catching problems before they reach production.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement automated test frameworks for embedded alarm and safety products.
  • Build hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing systems that validate real devices under realistic operating conditions.
  • Develop tests that verify both individual components (sensors, controllers, communication modules) and end-to-end system behavior.
  • Write software to coordinate devices, test rigs, and cloud APIs for automated system validation.
  • Simulate real-world scenarios such as sensor faults, communication failures, power interruptions, and alarm events.
  • Build tooling and infrastructure that allow tests to run continuously in automated environments.
  • Work closely with firmware, hardware, and backend teams to debug issues and improve test coverage.

What You Bring

  • Engineering background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience working with embedded systems or hardware devices.
  • Basic familiarity with embedded Linux environments.
  • Ability to write software to automate tests and coordinate hardware devices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to system reliability.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with life safety or mission-critical regulatory standards (UL, ULC, etc.).
  • Prior experience implementing Machine Learning or AI tools to optimize QA workflows.
