SR. INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST

As part of the SpaceX Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) team, you will be the responsible owner of the Business Operations Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics Programs. This position will be responsible for ensuring that industrial hygiene and ergonomic programs are developed and implemented across all SpaceX locations in addition to being internal expertise for SpaceX EHS leaders.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve industrial hygiene programs across SpaceX facilities, including chemical, noise, and ergonomic exposure assessments.
  • Design and maintain dashboards and metrics to track industrial hygiene performance, exposure trends, and program effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to apply data analysis, automation, and AI/ML to improve exposure monitoring, risk prediction, and program efficiency.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and facilities teams to integrate industrial hygiene controls into new processes and facilities from the design phase.
  • Lead or support exposure monitoring campaigns and interpret results to recommend engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE.
  • Build and document standardized processes and tools to improve the operational maturity of the industrial hygiene function.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and other applicable regulations while driving beyond-compliance performance.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for employees and leadership on industrial hygiene topics.
  • Support incident investigations and root cause analysis involving potential exposure events.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in the design, development, and/or general operational oversight of environmental, health, and safety disciplines.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or working toward certification.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar) and basic data analysis.
  • Familiarity with applying AI or machine learning to safety or exposure data.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing or rapid iteration environments.
  • Knowledge of aerospace or launch vehicle operations.
  • Strong project management and process improvement skills (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed.
