Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human

About Okta Secures AI Team

The Okta for AI Agents Team is building the future of digital identity management. The way companies are using agents and allowing them access is undergoing a fundamental shift, enabling teams to move fast while staying secure.

Our North Star is clear: To get AI right, you have to get identity right. We are not just managing identities; we are building the industry's first Identity Security Fabric for the agentic era. As organizations rapidly deploy AI, these non-human entities are acting with access to critical tools, often bypassing traditional perimeters and creating a 'Shadow AI' crisis. Our mission is to move identity from a reactive gatekeeper to a unified control plane, transforming AI risk into business ROI.

We are tackling this by implementing a comprehensive four-pillar maturity model: Discover, Onboard, Protect, and Govern. We are driving innovation by defining the standards for Agentic Identity—including pioneer work with securing AI Agents and support for protocols like MCP. You will be helping us build the infrastructure that allows enterprises to scale AI safely, ensuring every access decision—whether made by a human or an automated agent—is authenticated, authorized, and audited at scale.

We are a diverse team of engineers, product managers, and designers who are bringing Okta’s expertise in identity to define the future of Agent Identity management, focusing on enablement while staying secure.

About the role

We’re looking for a staff frontend engineer on the Agent Access Policies sub-team. Operating under the larger Okta Secures AI, the Agent Access Policies team owns Agent Access Policies and enables least-privilege agentic access to enterprise resources, giving administrators per-agent control over which tools an agent may call and which employees it may act for.

This team works on policies that replace broad, connection-level agent access with per-agent, per-resource, per-tool policy decisions and enforcement evaluated at runtime on every request, including which employees a delegated agent is allowed to act for.

You will share our passion and great pride in elegant solutions and will join an engineering team that strongly believes in designing for scale, rigorous code reviews, automated testing, and an iterative process to build high-quality next-generation enterprise software. Identity is deeply important and providing a platform for customers to secure their resources is one of your passions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead, design, architect and build high-quality scalable software by enforcing best practices around software engineering architecture and processes
  • Collaborate with product owners, UX, and engineering teams to scope and plan engineering efforts and dependencies
  • Own your code at all stages of the lifecycle - design, implementation, test automation, delivery, and monitoring - to provide high-quality products to our customers.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of new products and features while also working down our existing technical debt
  • Raise the bar on engineering excellence by improving standard methodologies, producing best in class of code, documentation, testing, and monitoring
  • Conduct code reviews, retrospectives, and other continuous improvement activities
  • Collaborate with QA, Technical Support, Documentation, and UX team
  • Be a mentor for colleagues and help promote knowledge-sharing

What you’ll bring to the role

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience building highly reliable, mission-critical software.
  • Extensive knowledge of JavaScript language, along with experience building Express and ReactJS applications.
  • Experience shipping robust services and user interfaces for production-grade applications in an agile, product-oriented environment.
  • Strong experience with cross browser compatibility and optimization techniques
  • Strong understanding of debugging scalable, high performance web applications built with reusability and componentization in mind
  • Experience working with cloud systems at scale.
  • Understanding of web security attacks and prevention.
  • Excellent grasp of software development and testing principles.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong product sense.

And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following!

  • Experience with identity, authorization, or IAM protocols (e.g., OAuth, OIDC, SAML) and contributing to a "zero-to-one" startup-like team.
  • Work with agent frameworks, AI-facing APIs, or developer toolchains in the LLM space

Education:Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
