Independent retailers around the globe collectively represent a multi-hundred-billion-dollar wholesale market that has historically been fragmented and offline. At Faire, we're using the power of tech, data, and machine learning to connect this thriving community of entrepreneurs across the globe. Picture your favorite boutique in town — we help them discover the best products from around the world to sell in their stores. With the right tools and insights, we believe that we can level the playing field so businesses can grow and local communities can thrive.

We’re looking for smart, resourceful and passionate people to join us as we power the shop local movement. If you believe in community, come join ours.

About this role

You'll own one of the biggest drivers of brand success and growth on Faire: the experience they provide to retailers and the trust that creates. Brands grow on Faire when their prices are compelling, their products arrive as described, and their service keeps retailers coming back. The better a brand is on those things, the more it sells. Your job is to build the products that help brands get it right.

Pricing is the biggest lever, and where you'll start. Competitive prices with clear margins are the most direct way a brand grows its sales on Faire. You’ll build the tools, insights and experiences that make it easy for brands to set the right prices and for retailers to identify the smartest buying choices for their stores. But quality is broader than price — it's everything a retailer weighs when deciding whether to buy from a brand, and buy from them again. The opportunity is to set a strategy for improving it holistically, and then execute against it.

If you love complex marketplace dynamics, have strong intuitions about what makes a retailer trust a brand, and get excited about building products that create real, measurable value for small business owners — this is the role for you.

What you’ll do

  • Set the strategy for marketplace quality. Deeply understand both our brand and retailer customers so you can build the frameworks that define how Faire thinks about quality — what we measure, where we intervene, and how we balance brand economics, retailer trust, and long-term marketplace growth.
  • Own the quality roadmap end-to-end. Define strategy and sequencing across pricing (the insights, tools, and data that make it easy for brands to keep prices competitive and margins clear), the quality signals retailers rely on when choosing between brands, and the standards we hold brands to.
  • Build brand-facing products that drive growth. Create intuitive tools and workflows — price management, intelligent recommendations, performance insights— that make it easy for brands to act on opportunities and grow their sales on Faire. Where it helps them, surface the right information to retailers at the moment they're deciding what to buy.
  • Invest in data foundations. Partner with engineering and data science to build the data infrastructure that powers pricing and quality insights and recommendations at scale.
  • Be the voice of tradeoffs. Use analytics and frameworks to guide decisions about where to invest, which quality problems are worth solving now versus later, and how to balance brand experience with marketplace outcomes. Present clear recommendations to senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • You have 8+ years of experience in product at a high-growth tech startup, as a startup founder, or in a top tech company.
  • You have set direction in an ambiguous space, not just executed a roadmap you inherited. You can decide what’s worth working on and explain why.
  • You are good at deeply understanding customer needs and underlying motivations, especially in spaces where customers aren’t great at predicting how changes will impact their behavior
  • You’re an inspiring leader who is excited about the day-to-day of understanding our customers and working with a strong team to build improvements for them.
  • You’re an extraordinarily fast learner. You have the natural curiosity and intellectual horsepower to deeply understand new topics and pick up new skills in a very short time.
  • You are relentlessly resourceful. When something needs to get done, you always find a way to make it happen. Even when the work is hard, you power through it and execute with limited information and ambiguity.
  • You are a creative problem-solver. You excel at identifying unintuitive solutions to tough problems.
  • You are passionate. You are optimistic with a positive energy that other people draw upon.
  • You care deeply about developing products and solutions that will create the best experience for our customers.
