This is a hybrid role based out of our San Francisco office. Office attendance is required at least twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays for collaboration and connection. There may be additional in-office days for team or company events.

As a Staff Software Engineer at Ironclad, you’ll partner closely with teammates across engineering, product, design, and go-to-market to uncover high-impact problems and design, build, and ship thoughtful solutions. You’ll help shape the platform that empowers legal teams and business partners to do their best work at scale. Our product is bringing a centuries-old profession into the digital age, and you’ll play a pivotal role in defining what the next generation of contracting looks like.

What you'll do:
Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers across the company to scope, design, and ship features and systems that meaningfully impact our customers.
Partner with quality engineers to co-create, evolve, and maintain a thoughtful testing strategy that keeps our product fast, reliable, and resilient.
Lead technical discussions, share context generously, and mentor teammates through clear, kind feedback and coaching.
Help grow an inclusive, high-performing team by interviewing and hiring engineers from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
Build in a modern stack that includes TypeScript, ReactJS, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes on Google Cloud Platform—no need to have used all of these before; we’ll support you as you learn.
What we look for:
At least 7+ years of software experience architecting, building, launching and maintaining complex systems (a formal degree is not required, we are prioritizing industry experience)
Leadership across teams and a drive towards improving overall technical architecture and achieving company-wide goals
Passion for software engineering to build and ship great product
Hands-on experience shipping valuable products to production with real user feedback
A high bar for quality
Strong cross-team communication and collaboration skills

Base Salary Range: $210,000 - $235,000 offers company bonus
The base salary range represents the minimum and maximum of the salary range for this position based at our San Francisco headquarters. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors, including individual proficiency, anticipated performance, and the location of the selected candidate.
