What you'll do

As an Underwriting Analyst, your goal is to support our underwriting processes for our card products and grow your skills as a credit professional. This is a role that requires strong communication, time management, financial analysis, and teamwork. You will partner cross-functionally with our Sales, Customer Experience, Engineering, and Product teams to contribute to meeting organizational goals, and will have the opportunity to develop into more senior credit responsibilities over time.

Responsibilities

  • Own and work assigned cash-based underwriting queues, including account reviews, limit changes, and credit-related requests.
  • Evaluate customer creditworthiness and repayment capacity using bank statements, transaction data, cash-flow trends, and other business information.
  • Analyze cash balances, revenue, burn, runway, utilization, and transaction activity to identify evolving credit risk.
  • Make sound, risk-based recommendations within delegated authority, balancing customer impact with responsible exposure management.
  • Clearly communicate underwriting decisions, rationale, and information requirements to internal partners and, when needed, customers.
  • Partner with Sales, Customer Experience, Credit Policy, Risk, Data, Product, and Engineering to resolve complex cases and improve the end-to-end credit experience
  • Identify recurring issues and opportunities to improve underwriting quality, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Use data, spreadsheets, and AI-enabled tools to streamline routine work and surface actionable insights.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to improve tools and workflows that support cash-based underwriting.

Requirements

  • Passionate about credit and underwriting decisions on commercial exposures for small to large businesses
  • Strong analytical rigor and attention to details
  • Customer centric and passionate about thinking through customer needs and working with them while balancing risk exposures
  • Ability to communicate technical problems in an elegant and tactful way

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with quantitative credit risk models, probability of default (PD), and loss given default (LGD) concepts
  • Familiarity with underwriting or credit-risk tooling and workflows.
  • Experience using SQL, Hex, spreadsheets, or similar tools to analyze data and identify trends.
