Who we are

Atoms is building the machines that power the next era of progress.

Over the last decade, software has transformed the digital world. But the physical world, where food is made, minerals are mined, goods are moved, and industries are run, remains far less intelligent, far less efficient, and far more constrained. We’re changing that.

Atoms builds Physical AI— real-world robots for the industries that move civilization forward, starting with food, mining, and transport. Our systems are designed to understand, predict, and control the real world with precision, turning complex physical operations into something more reliable, more scalable, and more productive.

This work requires more than robotics. It requires deep integration across hardware, software, AI, operations, manufacturing, and real estate. We don’t just build machines in a lab. We deploy them into real environments, operate them, learn from them, and improve them until they work at scale.

We are roboticists, engineers, operators, and builders. We believe the next great technology companies will not only transform information, but the physical systems that shape everyday life.

If you want to work on hard problems with real-world impact, join us.

What you’ll do

We are seeking a Commodity & Utility Associate to help optimize energy, utility, and operational costs across our portfolio. You will work across energy procurement, utility management, infrastructure, and automation, with a strong focus on using data to drive better decisions and build scalable processes.

  • Manage utilities and energy procurement: Monitor market signals and pricing trends, support electricity and natural gas contract execution, validate commercial terms, benchmark rates, audit utility bills, and track rebates and incentive programs.
  • Drive OpEx optimization: Analyze operational expenses to identify leakage, discrepancies, and savings opportunities; investigate root causes and partner with cross-functional teams to drive corrective actions.
  • Support power generation and smart infrastructure: Evaluate solutions such as BESS, generators, fuel cells, and microturbines for our EV/AV charging depot network, including vendor comparisons, technical assessments, and ROI analysis.
  • Build scalable workflows: Automate recurring processes such as rate benchmarking, bill reconciliation, rebate tracking, leakage detection, and reporting using scripting, dashboards, and AI-assisted development tools.
  • Manage vendors and commercial discussions: Lead vendor outreach, compare technical and commercial proposals, and support negotiations across pricing, contract terms, renewals, and termination clauses.
  • Provide actionable insights: Maintain financial and operational trackers and translate complex data into clear recommendations for internal stakeholders and leadership.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong analytical skills, with advanced Excel proficiency and experience working with large, multi-source datasets.

  • Experience with Python, SQL, or similar tools to analyze data and automate recurring workflows.

  • Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude Code.

  • Strong attention to detail, ownership, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

  • Clear written communication and confidence managing vendors and negotiating pricing and contract terms.

  • Exposure to energy markets, utility billing, energy procurement, or DER/BESS technologies is a plus, but not required.

  • Experience with dashboards, APIs, or data pipelines is a plus.

What success looks like

Successful Commodity & Utility Associates at Atoms do more than maintain trackers or process utility bills. They understand why the numbers moved, identify opportunities before they become problems, and take ownership of driving them to resolution.

They are equally comfortable digging through a utility bill, analyzing a supplier proposal, negotiating commercial terms, or building an automation that eliminates the need to repeat the same analysis next month.

Rather than accepting manual processes as permanent, they continuously look for ways to make the team faster, more accurate, and more scalable.

Why join us

At Atoms, you’ll work on one of the defining challenges of our time—bringing automation into the physical world to drive real, lasting impact. We exist to uncover valuable unknown truths and turn them into progress, which means constantly pushing beyond what’s known and building what doesn’t yet exist. The work is ambitious and often challenging, but it’s grounded in a shared sense of purpose and a team committed to seeing it through together. Our work only matters if it serves others, and we know that meaningful progress depends on the trust of the people we serve and the strength of our team—so we invest in both, creating an environment where you can do your best work and grow.

What else you need to know

This role is based in our Bogotá office. Atoms is a company driven by invention and continuous change - we are constantly reimagining our industries, building new products, and refining how we operate. We do our best work together. That’s why all of our office-based teams work onsite, five days a week.
