The Team You'll Work With

This role is on the Private Equity sales team, working to strategically grow Carta's presence into private equity. The team works with both investment firms and their portfolio companies.

Carta has developed an ownership management platform exclusively for Private Equity Firms and their portfolio company management teams — including the first and only Advanced Scenario Modeling tool capable of handling the most complex Private Equity waterfalls. This empowers deal teams, valuations teams, and management teams to improve accuracy and time-to-insight for their most important strategic decisions.

As an Account Executive, you'll join a cross-functional team to strategically navigate Private Equity Firms and their portfolio companies, evangelize the Carta value proposition, and drive net new revenue.

The Problems You'll Solve

Carta is transforming how private companies, their investors, and employees manage ownership and make strategic decisions. We have acquired substantial market share across industries, but managing ownership and modeling complex waterfall distributions remains a critical challenge for private companies across sectors — notably in the private equity industry.

  • Own the entire sales lifecycle, from lead generation to close
  • Drive revenue through outbound prospecting into private equity firms and PE-backed portfolio companies
  • Understand customer needs and requirements; act as a trusted business advisor to C-suite leaders and private equity investors
  • Communicate the business impact of Carta's product offerings to key decision makers
  • Develop a comprehensive sales strategy that ensures consistent achievement of goals over the short and long term
  • Own customer relationships and serve as their advocate within Carta
  • Stay current on the PE industry and bring the customer's voice into product and strategy conversations

The Impact You'll Have

You will help propel Carta to the next level of growth by evangelizing our platform to one of the largest private asset classes in the world. You'll introduce new customers to our best-in-class software, helping them streamline equity management, stay compliant, and unlock liquidity in private markets.

You'll work in a fast-paced, innovative environment — taking initiative, trying new strategies, and collaborating closely across teams to provide a best-in-class sales process. Always prospecting for new opportunities, you'll close new accounts while building relationships with some of Carta's most sophisticated partners in the private equity space.

About You

We're looking for ambitious, curious, and humble people to join our sales team.

  • 4–7+ years of experience in a quota-carrying sales role, with consistent achievement of quota
  • Experience selling into financial services or private equity firms, with the ability to speak their language and deeply understand pain points
  • Ability to build and execute a sales strategy using a solution-based selling approach
  • Experience with consultative selling techniques to uncover opportunities for evolving products and services
  • Strong communicator who works effectively cross-functionally and across all levels of an organization
  • Demonstrated ability to influence through persuasion, negotiation, and consensus-building
  • Proven track record of self-driven outbound prospecting and close collaboration with SDRs
  • Genuine interest in M&A, private equity, and private markets

Salary

We are hiring for multiple levels and locations, so final offers may vary from the amounts listed based on geography, experience and expertise, and other factors. Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans.

  • $205k OTE ($49.28/hour) - $235k OTE in New York City, NY and San Francisco, CA
