Joblaze insights
Quick facts
From the original posting
Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
We're looking for an Accounting Intern to get hands-on experience across the core of what our accounting team does day to day. You'll support month-end close, help keep the books accurate, and get exposure to how accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and reporting actually work at a fast-growing company — not just the theory from a textbook.
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants real reps on the fundamentals: journal entries, reconciliations, and the discipline of making sure every number ties out. You'll also have room to bring fresh thinking to how we work — using AI tools to speed up manual tasks and automate reconciliations, and helping develop and enhance our monthly reporting processes. You'll work closely with the accounting team, learn how the close runs today, and take on real pieces of it yourself.
Assist with month-end close tasks, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
Help reconcile bank accounts, credit card activity, and intercompany transactions.
Use AI tools to streamline manual, repetitive accounting tasks and help automate reconciliations.
Help develop and enhance our monthly reporting processes, making them faster and more reliable.
Assist with fixed asset tracking and depreciation schedules.
Help prepare supporting schedules for audits and tax filings.
Maintain organized, accurate documentation for accounting processes and controls.
Assist with ad hoc analysis and projects as the accounting team needs.
Currently pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Foundational understanding of accounting principles (debits and credits, basic GAAP concepts) from coursework.
Strong attention to detail and a low tolerance for numbers that don't tie out.
Comfort working in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets).
Curiosity about using AI and automation to make manual accounting work faster and more reliable.
Eagerness to learn how a real accounting close runs, end to end.
Ability to communicate clearly and ask good questions.
NetSuite or other ERP experience is a plus, but not required.
Base is scaling a hardware‑plus‑energy business in real markets, and our accounting team builds the financial foundation that makes that scale possible. The team designs and runs the systems that turn manufacturing activity, customer contracts, and energy market participation into accurate, decision-ready financials—so leadership knows exactly where we’re making money, where we’re not, and how fast we can grow. This work directly shapes pricing, investment, and operational strategy, not after the fact but in real time as the company evolves.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
