About the Role

An autonomous aircraft is only as good as the seams between its systems — power, actuation, sensing, comms, and the software that ties them together. This role owns those seams. You'll define the systems architecture and the interfaces across electrical, mechanical, and logical boundaries, then prove it works: building hardware-in-the-loop rigs and integration benches, integrating real hardware onto prototype airframes, and standing on the ramp during ground runs and flight test when something doesn't behave.

Architecture through flight data, end to end — with fast feedback loops and real hardware in the room.

What You'll Do

  • Architect the systems. Design and define the overall aircraft systems architecture in close collaboration with mechanical, electrical, software, and flight controls disciplines.

  • Control the interfaces. Define, manage, and document Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and system interfaces across electrical, mechanical, and logical boundaries.

  • Produce the specifications. Create detailed system schematics, architecture models, technical write-ups, and comprehensive system descriptions.

  • Select and manage suppliers. Partner with supply chain and procurement to evaluate, select, and manage technical relationships with key hardware and system suppliers.

  • Build the test rigs. Lead the design, build, and commissioning of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test rigs and integration benches to validate system behaviour before flight.

  • Integrate the systems. Bring avionics, actuators, power distribution, communication links, and sensor payloads together on test benches and prototype airframes.

  • Troubleshoot at the system level. Diagnose complex anomalies across electrical power, signal integrity, communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, RS-422/485), and software interfaces.

  • Support manufacturing. Work with the production team during assembly, wiring harness routing, component installation, and initial powered-on checks.

  • Support flight test. Provide real-time engineering support during ground runs, pre-flight checks, taxi tests, and envelope expansion flight testing.

  • Close the loop on flight data. Analyze post-flight system telemetry to resolve discrepancies and optimize overall system performance and reliability.

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Systems, or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.

  • Proven aircraft or vehicle systems integration experience across electrical, mechanical, and software boundaries.

  • Hands-on ICD definition and interface management.

  • HIL rig and integration bench design and build experience.

  • System-level troubleshooting across electrical power, signal integrity, and communication buses (CAN, Ethernet, RS-422/485).

  • Flight test or ground test support experience — you've supported live test, not just bench work.

  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a Canadian security clearance (Secret or higher).

Nice to Have / Bonus Points

  • Uncrewed or autonomous platform integration.

  • Wiring harness design and power distribution architecture.

  • Flight telemetry and post-flight data analysis tooling.

  • Sensor payload and communication link integration.

  • Arctic or austere-environment field test experience.

No defence background required.

We've hired people who didn't tick every box. If this is the work you want to do, please apply anyway.
