About Flexport:

The opportunity:
As Flexport expands its footprint across LATAM in 2026 and beyond, Mexico is one of our most important growth markets, and airfreight is a major part of that growth. As our Mexico Air Leader, you will own the airfreight strategy and P&L for Mexico imports, exports, and Mexico-sold volumes, with a clear mandate to deliver profitable, EBITDA-positive growth. You will define our focus lanes and key initiatives with the GM, move us from agent to direct procurement, and secure competitive rates with airlines and vendors at every major Mexican airport. You will also work side by side with our sales team to find prospects, win key accounts, and build tailored door-to-door solutions at sharp prices. You will be a pillar of our local culture, coaching our operations, customer service, and pricing teams and showing them how it’s done. Expect to be on the road with clients, on the phone with Asia at night closing deals, and negotiating local charges with vendors during the day. This role is pivotal to our success in Mexico and to delivering exceptional value to our customers across the region.

Key responsibilities

  • Mexico Airfreight Strategy: Define budget (tons, net revenue, contribution profit) with GM, design the Air program / focus lanes we should sell, define the key initiatives to get to our goals
  • Manage Air P&L for Mexico imports, exports and Mexico sold volumes, ensuring we are EBITDA positive
  • Procurement: Transition from agent to direct procurement and ensure we procure airfreight and local charges competitively (below market) in all Mexico airports
  • Business development: help sales find prospects (provide lead lists, guide them on what verticals to target), help make introductions to prospects, prepare client meetings / strategy to win, meet clients with our sales team, maintain relationship with clients in the region to grow business and prevent churn
  • Pricing & Solutioning: Ensure we provide very tailored door to door solution for client needs and sharp pricing, work with our overseas Air procurement managers to get competitive solutions & rates, review the door to door pricing on each bid to ensure we are sharp, present the solution & pricing to the customer and adjust as required
  • Local leadership: be a pillar of the local culture ensuring we coach / apprentice staffs in operations, customer service and pricing

You should have:

  • 7+ years experience in freight forwarding
  • Deep pricing and solutioning expertise, has done it for > 5 years on clients of various sizes

  • Existing relationships with airlines in the country and at headquarter to drive the best procurement for Flexport
  • Existing relationships with all vendors in major Mexico airports (customs, truckers, ground handlers)
  • Highly energetic and collaborative, this person will be on the road selling to clients, calling Asia at night to make deals and calling vendors during the day to negotiate local charges
  • Previous experience selling to clients and managing client relationships at senior level, understand how to grow business and retain business
  • Leadership experience leading an Air operations team
