Quick facts
From the original posting
We are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refueled in orbit, and which carries cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.
We want you as a hands-on AIT Electrical/Harness Technician to help us in our mission by building, integrating, maintaining and documenting Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and electrical harnesses used for FM1 integration and on-site ground testing, to ensure that our mission will succeed and our system will work in space!
In your role as an AIT Electrical/Harness Technician, your role will include the following responsibilities:
Build, wire, assemble and inspect EGSE assemblies and associated electrical harnesses in accordance with released drawings, bills of materials and work instructions
Where drawings or complete work instructions are unavailable, use available information and agreed engineering direction to support practical build decisions, capture the as-built configuration and any assumptions or open points, and seek review and approval before the equipment is used
Manufacture, terminate, label, route, inspect and maintain electrical harnesses and test cables used during FM1 integration and ground testing
Perform prescribed electrical checks, such as continuity, pinout and polarity checks, using approved procedures, equipment and acceptance limits
Support installation, setup, connection, disconnection and removal of EGSE and harnesses in integration areas and at on-site ground-test locations
Maintain and troubleshoot EGSE, harnesses and test cables; identify faults and report discrepancies for engineering or quality disposition before making changes outside approved instructions
Support engineers and test teams during integration and ground-test activities by preparing equipment, maintaining tidy cable routing and assisting with approved checks
Maintain accurate build, inspection, test, maintenance and as-built records, including equipment identification and configuration status
Keep track of tools and measuring equipment used for the work, including their serviceability and calibration status where applicable
Follow applicable electrical-safety, ESD, clean-work-area and hardware-handling requirements
Support the packing, transport, deployment and return of EGSE and harnesses for ground-test campaigns
Help maintain an orderly workshop, equipment inventory and stock of consumables.
In the role of AIT Electrical/Harness Technician, ideally you will bring the following skillset, mentality and experience:
Vocational training or apprenticeship in electrical/electronic engineering, electronics, mechatronics or a comparable qualification; equivalent practical experience will also be considered
Hands-on experience assembling electrical wiring, cable harnesses, electrical panels or rack-based equipment; experience in aerospace AIT or with EGSE is an asset
Practical skills in wire preparation, crimping, connector termination, cable routing and labelling; soldering experience is an asset where required by the work instructions
Ability to read and follow electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, connector pinouts, assembly drawings and work instructions
Experience using hand tools and basic electrical measurement equipment, such as a multimeter or continuity tester
Careful approach to workmanship, inspection, configuration control and recording completed work
Willingness to stop and raise a discrepancy when a drawing, label, measurement or instruction does not agree, rather than making an unauthorised change
Basic fault-finding skills and the ability to communicate findings clearly to engineers and test teams
Willingness to work hands-on in workshops, integration areas and on-site test locations, including supporting time-critical campaign activities
Sense of responsibility and a clean, organized and safety-conscious way of working
Fluent in written and spoken English
Willingness to travel for ground-test and launch campaigns.
We’re Agile - we make decisions fast whilst keeping our goals and systems in mind
