Role Purpose
The Compliance Lead will play a pivotal role in promoting Pinterest’s strong culture of compliance and ethics. The successful candidate will own the management, operation, and maturation of Pinterest’s Corporate Compliance and Ethics programs and related policies; support third party risk management, regulatory monitoring, and compliance-related internal investigations; and work as a highly effective partner across global teams. This role will drive compliance operations initiatives including risk assessments, self-service resources, monitoring, testing, and Board reporting, while leveraging approved AI and automation tools to streamline processes.
What you’ll do:
- Be responsible for management, operation, and maturation of Pinterest’s Corporate Compliance and Ethics programs and related policies, including conflicts of interest, policy management and oversight, training and awareness, records and information management, standard setting, control management, and monitoring activities.
- Assist with third party risk management, including sanctions and restricted-country screening, third party reviews, and gifts and hospitality.
- Identify, assess, document, and escalate, as needed, potential compliance risks and issues, including working with appropriate stakeholders to implement mitigation measures.
- Design and conduct risk assessments by gathering information, documenting findings, and tracking approved mitigation actions.
- Support regulatory monitoring efforts — tracking new and evolving requirements across US, EU, LATAM and APAC and working with subject matter experts to translate them into actionable guidance for the business.
- Maintain and improve self-service compliance resources, including policies, procedures, process flows, trackers, evidence repositories, and the internal compliance knowledge hub.
- Assist with and, as appropriate, conduct compliance-related internal investigations.
- Support periodic monitoring, control testing, compliance audits, and preparation of concise reports and management updates, including Board reporting across all Compliance programs.
- Identify and drive opportunities to use approved AI-enabled tools and workflow automation to streamline compliance processes, while maintaining appropriate human review, data protection, and auditability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Human Resources, Finance, Product, and Engineering on compliance-related matters
- Anticipate needs, solve problems proactively, and constantly look for ways to maximize efficiency and impact
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum 5 years of experience building and maintaining compliance and ethics, sanctions, AML/KYC, third-party risk, risk management program(s).
- Experience using GRC, workflow, or case-management systems (e.g., learning management systems, helpline platforms, or document management tools).
- Familiarity with one or more of the following areas: sanctions screening and OFAC concepts, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), anti-bribery and corruption, financial crime risks and controls, consumer protection regulation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams independently and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills — you can explain a complex requirement clearly to someone who is not a lawyer or compliance professional and can tailor your communications for the audience.
- Sound judgment and the ability to recognize when a situation calls for escalation, even when the right answer is not obvious.
- Experience in using AI and automation tools to improve compliance workflows, documentation, or reporting.
- Experience building productive working relationships across teams and functions.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace tools, including spreadsheets and presentation software.
- A positive, proactive, "can-do" mentality and a genuine eagerness to learn and contribute to a wide range of projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- J.D., and time spent at supporting compliance in-house or at a law firm.
- Experience working in a technology company or similarly fast-paced, multi-jurisdictional environment.
- Compliance or ethics certification such as CCEP, CAMS, or ICA.
