Director of Finance

Location: Ottawa, ON (On-Site)

Reports to: Head of Finance

The Role

Finance at Dominion is about far more than reporting the numbers. You'll build the financial systems, planning processes, and operational discipline that allow the company to scale responsibly while su pporting ambitious growth.

You'll own accounting, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, investor reporting, government funding compliance, procurement support, and financial operations. You'll work closely with leadership to make decisions that directly shape the future of the company.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll build the function while remaining close to the details.

What You'll Do

  • Own all finance and accounting operations.

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.

  • Build forecasting, budgeting, and long-range financial planning processes.

  • Manage cash flow, runway planning, and working capital.

  • Develop KPI reporting and financial dashboards.

  • Support fundraising, investor reporting, and board materials.

  • Oversee audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance.

  • Manage banking relationships and insurance.

  • Support government grants, IRAP, SIF, defence contracts, and contribution agreements.

  • Build scalable financial controls and internal processes.

  • Partner with operations, engineering, manufacturing, and leadership on strategic decisions.

  • Own the finance module of the company's ERP implementation with system responsibilities growing as the company scales.

  • Build and lead the finance team over time.

What You'll Bring

  • CPA designation.

  • 8+ years of progressive finance experience.

  • Experience leading finance in a high-growth technology or manufacturing company.

  • Strong FP&A and financial modeling capabilities.

  • Deep understanding of accounting, controls, and cash management.

  • Comfortable building processes from scratch.

  • Excellent communication and business partnering skills.

  • Able to move between strategic planning and day-to-day execution.

Nice to Have

  • Startup or venture-backed experience.

  • Manufacturing, aerospace, defence, or hardware background.

  • Government funding and contract experience.

  • ERP implementation experience.

  • Experience supporting fundraising or M&A.
