From the original posting

GitLab is the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps. GitLab enables organizations to increase developer productivity, improve operational efficiency, reduce security and compliance risk, and accelerate digital transformation. More than 50 million registered users and more than 50% of the Fortune 100* trust GitLab to ship better, more secure software faster.

An Overview of This Role

As Director of Product, SaaS Platforms, you'll own the product direction and business outcomes for GitLab's software as a service (SaaS) environments: GitLab.com, our multi-tenant platform, and GitLab Dedicated, our single-tenant offering. You'll connect reliability, scalability, and operability with the commercial decisions that make these platforms sustainable businesses.

Your scope spans both platforms, not a single feature roadmap. On GitLab.com, you'll guide growth through better customer isolation and additional cells, alongside rate limits, usage limits, and monetization. On GitLab Dedicated, you'll help scale it to hundreds of customers through automation, customer self-service, and closer alignment with GitLab's latest releases. You'll balance customer needs with operating costs and gross margin.

This director-level role starts as an individual contributor. It's remote and open to candidates based in the United States or Canada, with no specific time zone preference.

What You'll Do

  • Set the product strategy and roadmap across GitLab.com and GitLab Dedicated, connecting platform capabilities to customer and business outcomes.
  • Drive improvements in platform reliability, scalability, and operability, including better separation between customers and expansion of GitLab.com's cell-based architecture.
  • Define GitLab.com's rate limits, usage limits, and related monetization approach.
  • Scale GitLab Dedicated through maintenance-window automation and other operational improvements, while controlling costs and improving gross margin.
  • Expand customer self-service through Switchboard, giving customers tools to monitor, observe, and operate their Dedicated tenants.
  • Guide capabilities such as customer-initiated disaster recovery and geographic redundancy, and enable earlier access to beta features on GitLab Dedicated.
  • Reduce the delay between GitLab releases and their availability on Dedicated.
  • Own the business side of the portfolio as well as the technical product direction, developing profit and loss (P&L) ownership for both platforms and helping establish GitLab.com as a P&L business.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience leading a product portfolio at director level or with comparable scope, setting direction across multiple related products rather than a single roadmap.
  • Technical product experience with cloud platforms, infrastructure, or SaaS environments, including the tradeoffs involved in reliability, scalability, and operations.
  • The ability to connect product decisions to commercial outcomes, including monetization, operating costs, and gross margin.
  • Experience translating complex platform challenges into product priorities and working across teams to deliver them.
  • The ability to lead through product direction and influence in a director-level individual contributor role.

Direct ownership of a product P&L is particularly valuable. Experience in an organization actively adopting artificial intelligence (AI) would also be helpful.

About the Team

The SaaS platform portfolio brings together GitLab.com and GitLab Dedicated. The work spans shared-platform growth, single-tenant operations, and the tools customers use to manage their environments. The challenge is to improve the customer experience and platform capabilities while building a scalable, financially sustainable operating model for each offering.

At GitLab, our mission is simple: to enable everyone to contribute to and co-create the software that powers our world. Our platform brings together development, security, and operations, helping teams collaborate throughout software delivery.
