How you can help make a better world of work
Culture Amp is looking for a Director, Solutions Engineering to lead our Solutions Engineering team within Customer Value & Services. You’ll set the strategy, operating rhythm and standards for the technical team that helps customers understand and realise the value of Culture Amp, from first conversation through to a strong start.
You’ll balance building the team with staying close to the field. That means joining key customer conversations, coaching on complex multi-stakeholder deals and levelling up how the team discovers, demonstrates and solves. You’ll work closely with Sales, Customer Experience, Product and People Science, including the 'pods' that share ownership of the customer from first sale through to renewal, and bring what customers tell you back into how we sell and build. You’ll also lead a team that uses AI to do better work, not just faster work.
As part of this team of amazing humans,
You will
- Lead, coach and develop your Solutions Engineers through regular 1:1s, clear feedback, performance conversations and career paths, and hire people who bring both the right skills and the right values.
- Set the vision for Solutions Engineering and turn it into an operating rhythm: coverage, priorities, forecasting input and performance measures that surface problems early.
- Stay close to the field by joining key customer meetings, guiding technical discovery and validation on complex deals, and coaching the team to tailor solutions to what a customer’s people and business really need.
- Raise the standard of demos and value-led storytelling, so your team can explain technical complexity clearly to People, IT and executive stakeholders.
- Line up pre-sales and post-sales so that what’s agreed in the sales cycle carries through to a smooth start, with clean handoffs and shared account context, and a focus on shorter time to value and stronger retention.
- Build assets that scale, such as frameworks, playbooks, onboarding plans and enablement, so good practice reaches the wider team and doesn’t depend on one person.
- Partner with leaders across Sales, Customer Experience, Product, People Science, RevOps and GTM Enablement to improve win rates, deal quality and adoption.
- Turn customer feedback and patterns from the field into clear, evidence-backed input for Product and roadmap decisions.
- Use data from tools like Salesforce and Gong to make decisions and show the team’s impact.
- Bring AI into the team’s daily work, and set expectations for how it improves the quality and speed of what the team produces.
- Try new approaches and share what you learn, helping raise the bar on how we sell and retain customers.
You have
- 8+ years in solutions engineering, pre-sales or technical consulting in B2B SaaS, including 4+ years leading Solutions Engineering teams.
- A track record of building, scaling and developing teams, with people who’ve grown into stronger SEs and leaders under you.
- Credibility leading discovery, technical validation and demos across complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise sales cycles, including security, integration and RFP questions.
- Experience building scalable frameworks, playbooks and enablement that other teams actually use.
- Fluency with Salesforce, Gong or equivalents, and the discipline to use data to forecast, prioritise and measure.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools in your own work, and experience getting a team to build AI-enabled habits.
- Examples of cross-functional work that moved metrics such as win rate, time to value or retention, where influence mattered more than authority.
- Executive presence and the ability to connect product capability to meaningful outcomes for senior HR and business leaders.
- Experience in HR tech, HCM or adjacent SaaS is advantageous but not required.
You are
- Driven by your team’s growth as much as your own results. You coach your SEs rather than run the deal for them.
- A people-first leader who creates psychological safety, gives clear feedback and cares about both performance and wellbeing.
- Technically credible and commercially sharp. You can go deep with an engineer in the morning and a CHRO in the afternoon.
- A natural collaborator who builds plans with your partners across Sales, Customer Success and Renewals rather than handing them one you’ve already made. You measure yourself by what the wider team wins together, and you’re open about what’s working and what isn’t.
- Clear and decisive. You make the call, say the useful thing early and hold a high standard with care.
- Curious about customers. You listen for the problem behind the request.
- Drawn to Culture Amp’s mission because you’ve felt the difference a great workplace makes, and you want to help build more of them.
