From the original posting
There was a time when all of America believed that the future of the physical world could be radically different. The engineers of the mid-1900s put a man on the moon in eight years, designed and built planes and submarines from scratch in under three, and conceived of building things we wouldn’t even be able to dream up today.
Overview
The EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) Engineer builds and implements the EHS program across all Amca sites. The role is based at Protoshop, Amca's R&D and production factory, which runs a wide range of machinery and test equipment. - Own OSHA and Cal/OSHA compliance across sites, including the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), written safety programs, inspections, and recordkeeping
- Conduct hazard assessments for existing operations and every new piece of equipment or process, and define required controls and PPE
- Own the hazardous materials program: chemical approval, SDS management, hazard communication, storage, labeling, and hazardous waste disposal
- Lead incident investigations and drive safety tickets to closure with root cause and corrective action
- Build and deliver safety training (ex. new-hire, hazmat, PPE, lockout/tagout, electrical and high-voltage safety, pressure safety) and track completion in Amca's training system
- Manage environmental and safety permits, regulatory reporting, and agency inspections
- Partner with shop leadership, facilities, and engineering so safety is designed into new equipment, layouts, and buildouts
- Track safety metrics and report trends and priority actions to leadership
