Who we are

Pronto AI is a global leader in commercializing autonomous vehicle (AV) technology, deploying Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) that automate operations in mines, quarries, and construction sites worldwide. While much of the industry remains in R&D, we deliver real, production-ready autonomy that is already operating in the field.

We are on a mission to make mining operations safer, smarter, and more efficient through cutting-edge technology, and we are building toward becoming the world’s first profitable AV technology company.

About the role

The Field Service Technician is a hands-on role responsible for the installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of Pronto's autonomous haulage technology across a range of customer mine sites. This position plays a critical role in ensuring successful deployment and optimal performance of Pronto equipment in the field.

What you’ll do

  • Installation & Deployment: Installs, commissions, and troubleshoots autonomous retrofit kits on heavy-duty mining equipment at active open-pit sites
  • Works on customer sites as part of a deployment crew, often as the sole technical presence
  • Preventive Maintenance: Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks to ensure system health, reliability, and long-term performance
  • Monitor and log equipment conditions, identifying signs of wear, degradation, or environmental impact
  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair hardware, software, and connectivity issues in the field
  • Customer Support: Serve as the face of Pronto during on-site visits, maintaining professional and responsive communication with customer personnel

What we’re looking for

  • 3+ years hands-on experience as a heavy equipment, diesel, automotive technician, avionics, industrial controls, or military/vehicle maintenance technician
  • Hands-on low-voltage (12/24V DC) electrical work: harness routing, connector termination, crimping, sensor and actuator installation
  • Able to read and work from wiring diagrams, schematics, and installation drawings
  • Must be able to mobilize on short notice (24 - 72 hours) and deploy for multi-week rotations, role is ~75% travel
  • Valid US drivers license
  • Comfortable with site conditions: extreme heat/cold, dust, altitude, shift work including nights and weekends
  • Proficient with standard business tools (email, ticketing systems, spreadsheets, documentation platforms, instant messaging, and typical suite platforms)
  • Makes sound judgment calls independently on site, with limited real-time support and often poor connectivity, and represent the company professionally at customer sites
  • Strong communicator internally and externally with internal engineering as well as mine site crews.

Why join us

  • Work on real, production-deployed autonomy.
  • Build technology that directly improves safety, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Tackle complex challenges in demanding, real-world environments.
  • Be part of a fast-moving team with high ownership and impact.
  • See your work deployed and making a difference in the field.
  • Collaborate closely with experienced engineers and industry operators.
