Group Deployment Lead
(f/m/x) Germany or Austria
At pivotal moments in history, new technology has sparked generational change, opening a window for those ready to shape what comes next. For AI, this is that window.
What you’ll do
We’re looking for a Group Lead to steer the deployment teams bringing Wonderful’s enterprise AI into production across Germany and Austria.
Reporting directly to the Field CTO, you will lead 10 to 14 Deployment Strategists and Forward Deployed Engineers across 2/3 pods, with responsibility for 3 to 6 enterprise deployments at any one time. You’ll own delivery outcomes and team development, staying close to customers, technical decisions and the challenges that determine whether a deployment succeeds.
You have personally delivered software in customer environments and are ready to lead across multiple teams. You’ll bring technical credibility, clear judgement and the ability to turn complex situations into decisions and action.
Own deployment outcomes. Drive speed to production, deployment quality and customer value across your pods, supporting expansion and renewal.
Resolve critical challenges. Act as the first senior escalation point, challenge deployment plans and make scope, sequencing and resource decisions with customers and teams.
Stay ahead of risk. Identify struggling deployments early, remove blockers and keep delivery moving.
Lead and develop your people. Manage performance, coach Deployment Strategists and Forward Deployed Engineers, lead hiring for your group and help new joiners become productive quickly. Work with craft leads on hiring standards, promotions and career development.
Scale what works. Share knowledge across pods, encourage reusable solutions and turn recurring customer needs into evidence-based product feedback.
Shape new deployments. Partner with sales to qualify opportunities and define realistic scope, delivery plans and resource requirements.
Why should you
Help build Wonderful’s deployment organisation across Germany and Austria, with direct access to the regional Field CTO.
Lead a growing team while staying close to customers and the technical work.
Work on cutting-edge agentic AI, delivering production systems for major enterprises.
Join a team of high-agency builders and help shape how we scale.
A mix of home office and regular customer travel, approximately 30–50%.
Great salary with equity and revenue share
What you’ll bring
Hands-on experience shipping software or deploying solutions inside customer environments as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Deployment Strategist, solutions architect or in a similar role.
Experience leading engineers or strategists, either as a formal manager or a credible player-coach.
The technical judgement to challenge deployment plans, understand trade-offs and guide teams through difficult delivery decisions.
Credibility with senior enterprise stakeholders, including CIOs and department heads, particularly when delivery is under pressure.
A strong sense of ownership and the ability to make decisions with incomplete information, build structure and adapt as priorities change.
German at C1 level or above, fluent English and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites.
Experience scaling a deployment organisation beyond 20 people or deploying LLM-based systems into production would be a plus.
It would be highly beneficial if you have already worked in a start-up/scale up and/or in Gen AI.
