Head of Revenue Accounting

What You’ll Do

• Own Fireworks AI’s global revenue accounting function, including revenue recognition, contract review, close, reconciliations, reporting, and related controls.

• Serve as the company’s technical accounting expert for revenue recognition under ASC 606.

• Review complex and non-standard customer contracts and determine the appropriate accounting treatment.

• Prepare and maintain technical accounting memos supporting revenue recognition conclusions and significant judgments.

• Partner closely with Sales, Legal, Deal Desk, FP&A, Billing, and Finance to evaluate the accounting implications of new products, pricing models, and contract structures.

• Establish scalable revenue accounting policies, processes, and controls as the company grows.

• Lead monthly and quarterly revenue close activities, including deferred revenue, contract assets and liabilities, variable consideration, and revenue-related balance sheet accounts.

• Support external audits and serve as the primary point of contact for revenue-related accounting matters.

• Identify opportunities to automate and improve revenue accounting workflows, systems, and data integrity.

• Build and lead a high-performing revenue accounting team over time.

• Support broader technical accounting initiatives, financial reporting requirements, and readiness for future public-company standards.

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with substantial experience in technical revenue accounting.

• Deep expertise in ASC 606 and experience applying the standard to complex technology or SaaS contracts.

• Strong understanding of usage-based, consumption-based, subscription, and enterprise contract structures.

• Experience evaluating non-standard terms such as minimum commitments, prepaid credits, discounts, rebates, service-level arrangements, contract modifications, and variable consideration.

• Strong technical accounting research and memo-writing skills.

• Experience working in a high-growth technology company; experience with AI, cloud infrastructure, developer platforms, SaaS, or consumption-based businesses is especially relevant.

• Prior experience managing revenue close processes, internal controls, and external audit relationships.

• Ability to partner effectively with commercial teams while maintaining sound accounting judgment and appropriate controls.

• Strong systems orientation and experience scaling revenue accounting processes through automation.

• CPA strongly preferred.

• Public accounting experience, particularly with a Big Four firm, is preferred.
