About the role
We are looking for an integration engineer to bring autonomous haulage and heavy equipment platforms to life in the mining industry. You will own the integration of drive-by-wire, sensors, compute, and networking on large off-road vehicles, and work with platform teams to take each machine from bare platform to fully commissioned autonomous vehicle on a live customer site.
At Applied Intuition, you will:
Lead vehicle bring up and commissioning for autonomous haul trucks and heavy equipment, from drive-by-wire and sensor installation through calibration, validation, and customer sign-off
Debug across the hardware/software boundary, including CAN/J1939, Ethernet, time synchronization, and sensor drivers
Build the tooling, diagnostics, and integration processes that make each new vehicle faster and more reliable to deploy than the last
Plan and execute brake, steering, and system-level test campaigns that support functional safety and regulatory compliance
Work directly with OEMs, hardware vendors, and customer engineering teams, including time on active mine and quarry sites
We're looking for someone who has:
BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
2+ years in vehicle, robotics, or embedded systems integration
Experience integrating and bringing up robotic, autonomous, or embedded vehicle systems
Strong systems debugging skills across electrical, networking, and software layers
Working knowledge of vehicle networks (CAN/J1939) and Ethernet-based sensor and compute architectures
Proficiency in Linux and Python, with the ability to read and modify C++
Willingness to travel and work onsite at industrial locations for short periods
Nice to have:
Experience with autonomy in the industrials domain
Familiarity with steer-by-wire or brake-by-wire systems and related standards (e.g. ISO 3450, ISO 5010)
Experience working with embedded compute platforms
Exposure to functional safety processes for autonomous or mining equipment
Experience with ROS or similar robotics middleware
