The Production Lead Inspector is responsible for ensuring all in-process and final assemblies meet internal quality standards, engineering requirements, and applicable IPC standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical inspection expertise, and leadership capability to guide and mentor inspectors. The Production Lead Inspector will work closely with production teams to ensure compliance, identify nonconformances, and verify that all work aligns with approved drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and final inspections on assemblies
- Ensure compliance to drawings, specifications, and quality standards
- Lead and mentor inspection team members
- Verify proper torque values and striping are applied and documented
- Inspect for dimensional accuracy and tolerance compliance
- Identify defects and nonconformances with high accuracy
- Review drawings to confirm correct placement and configuration of components
- Search internal systems for prior approvals or buy-offs before escalating issues
- Communicate quality concerns clearly to production teams
- Support composite and welding inspection activities as needed
- Drive continuous improvement through feedback and coaching
Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards
- Strong attention to detail and inspection accuracy
- Experience with production or in-process inspection
- Understanding of composite inspection preferred
- Knowledge of welding inspection fundamentals
- Understanding of dimensional tolerances and measurement techniques
- Strong understanding of torque values and torque striping verification
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to mentor and train inspection personnel
