The NPI Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming mechanical components for dimensional conformity as well as vessel sub-assembly system inspection. Ensure components and assemblies meet internal quality standards, engineering requirements, and applicable specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow procedures, and a solid understanding of inspection techniques. The Production Inspector works closely with various launch teams to identify defects, ensure compliance, and support overall product quality.
Key Responsibilities
Perform in-process and final inspections on assemblies
Verify components and assemblies meet drawings and specifications
Check dimensional tolerances using appropriate measurement tools
Validate torque values and torque striping
Identify defects and nonconformances with accuracy
Document inspection results clearly within company systems
Support composite and basic weld inspection activities as required
Assist in receiving inspection and system rollout at alternate production locations
Participate in First Article Build with Design and NPI Quality
Lead First Article Inspection for prototype builds (occasionally at supplier, if needed)
Develop skillset in 3D modeling systems
Mature inspection plans for assigned commodities in preparation for volume production
Assist in troubleshooting, repair, and retrofit of prototype vessels
Partner with Manufacturing department in PFMEA development and reviews
Required Qualifications
Working knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards preferred
Strong attention to detail
Ability to read and interpret drawings and work instructions
Basic understanding of dimensional tolerances and measurement tools
Understanding of torque values and torque striping verification
Exposure to composite inspection preferred
Basic understanding of welding inspection fundamentals preferred
Good documentation and communication skills
Ability to follow procedures and standards consistently
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Occasional standing and walking within the office
Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports
Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies
