About Dashlane

About the Role:

Dashlane is currently looking for an experienced, hands-on Lead Accountant to take end-to-end ownership of our French entity’s financial operations as our primary local finance lead in Paris. Reporting directly into the US-based VP, Global Controller, this high-impact role places you at the center of a dynamic, international team where you will manage everything from local statutory compliance to global reporting.

In this position based in Paris, you will lead day-to-day accounting operations: spanning General Ledger, Month-End Close, Payroll oversight, Revenue Recognition (US GAAP ASC 606), VAT/Tax filings, CIR preparation, and the annual French Statutory Audit, while collaborating closely with international teams across the US and Portugal. You will modernize workflows through automation, champion the adoption of AI-assisted accounting tools, and mentor our local Staff Accountant to support their professional growth.

Location-specific information:

You will be based in Paris, with English and French as your working languages. We offer a hybrid work arrangement, with Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in-office, and Wednesday and Friday as remote. Tuesday is the office company-sponsored meal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-End French Accounting Ownership: Own the complete month-end close process for the French entity and maintain local accounting books in close collaboration with the global accounting team.
  • Statutory Audit & Tax Compliance: Lead the annual French Statutory Audit, manage tax/VAT filings, and coordinate the annual CIR (Crédit d'Impôt Recherche) preparation with Engineering.
  • Global Financial Alignment: Partner with the Global Controller on the annual US GAAP audit, internal controls, and special international accounting projects.
  • Revenue Recognition & B2B Operations: Manage US GAAP ASC 606 revenue recognition, support payment automation, and oversee B2B invoicing, AR collections, and local compliance.
  • Operational & Payroll Oversight: Monitor third-party payroll JEs and accruals, process vendor bills and credit cards with proper GL coding, manage T&E compliance, and perform balance sheet reconciliations (bank, fixed assets, and balance sheet).
  • Project Leadership & System Compliance: Optimize French accounting systems (Pennylane ERP) and lead project management for the 2027 French e-invoicing compliance initiatives across AP and AR.
  • Pragmatic Decision-Making: Navigate ambiguity to make sound accounting decisions with incomplete data in a fast-paced environment, balancing technical precision with operational flexibility.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Foster an open, supportive environment by sharing knowledge, managing workload to hit tight deadlines, and collaborating across global and local teams.
  • Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Build strong professional relationships with external third parties, including payroll vendors, audit firms, and statutory partners.
  • Process Improvement: Create and regularly update internal process documentation to ensure financial data integrity.
  • AI & Workflow Automation: Modernize French accounting operations by adopting AI-assisted tools and automated workflows to accelerate reconciliations, month-end close, AR/AP, and accruals.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting or equivalent
  • 7+ years of relevant accounting and tax experience
  • Strong French Statutory accounting knowledge
  • GAAP - ASC 606 Revenue Recognition knowledge (particularly within subscription or multi-channel B2B payment models)
  • Fluency in French and English (spoken and written)
  • Experience with Pennylane and NetSuite or other large ERP systems (or similar modern financial platforms)
  • Strong Excel skills (for complex data analysis, reconciliations, and financial modeling)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, structured and autonomous working style
  • Pragmatic business judgment and ability to balance technical accounting precision with operational speed, applying a sharp sense of materiality to navigate ambiguity and solve complex issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Genuine passion for sharing knowledge and fostering an open, supportive team environment, focusing on coaching, empowering, and elevating colleagues
  • Exceptional communication and diplomacy skills to build seamless, high-trust relationships across international internal teams and key external partners (auditors, payroll vendors, tax authorities).
  • Proven ability to take full accountability for local financial outcomes, bringing a proactive, solution-oriented approach to organizing priorities, resolving operational challenges, and consistently delivering under tight deadlines.

We Are Also Looking For:

  • US GAAP accounting knowledge
  • Strong enthusiasm for AI and digital transformation, with a drive to leverage modern AI tools and workflow automation to streamline reconciliations, close processes, and financial reporting.
  • Direct hands-on experience coordinating annual French R&D tax credit (CIR) preparations alongside technical and engineering teams.
  • Flexibility to collaborate across time zones and enthusiasm to connect in person at our global hubs in Lisbon and the US 2–3 times per year.

What Dashlane offers you:
  • Equal Parental leave - regardless of gender, up to 20 weeks fully paid leave to take care of their new baby, within the first year of birth or adoption
