From the original posting
As a Senior Material Planner at Base, you will own material availability for critical components and assemblies across our manufacturing operations. You’ll translate production plans and engineering changes into reliable supply plans, hold suppliers accountable to delivery commitments, and balance production needs with inventory and cost.
This is a hands-on role that goes beyond releasing purchase orders and chasing shortages. You’ll identify constraints before they reach the line, make decisions when supply or schedules change, and build planning tools and processes that support growing production. You’ll work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Logistics, and Finance to keep materials - and production - moving.
Own material planning and execution for assigned components and assemblies supporting production, engineering builds, and new product ramps.
Translate production demand into executable supply plans through ERP/MRP, balancing material availability, inventory targets, and cost.
Set and maintain planning parameters, including lead times, minimum order quantities, order sizes, and safety stock, so the system reflects actual supplier capabilities and production needs.
Lead material readiness for engineering changes, new part introductions, and product transitions while minimizing shortages and obsolete inventory.
Build clear-to-build, material coverage, and run-out reporting that makes risks visible and informs production decisions.
Drive supplier delivery performance and shortage recovery. Establish recovery plans, track commitments, and escalate risks with clear options and recommendations.
Manage inventory health across production phases, adjusting supply plans to prevent excess material without compromising the build schedule.
Resolve supply constraints with Procurement, Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Accounts Payable.
Improve planning workflows, data quality, and reporting to reduce manual work and make material planning more reliable as Base grows.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
5+ years of experience in material planning, manufacturing planning, or supply chain execution in a hardware or discrete manufacturing environment.
Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, bills of materials, planning parameters, part lifecycles, and procure-to-pay workflows.
Experience owning material availability through production ramps, engineering changes, or shifting demand.
Demonstrated ability to improve supplier delivery performance and resolve shortages across teams.
Advanced Excel skills and the ability to turn complex or incomplete data into clear operational decisions.
Sound judgment when balancing production risk, inventory investment, and supplier constraints.
Clear communication, strong follow-through, and the ability to drive action without relying on formal authority.
Experience with Odoo ERP.
SQL or other tools for data analysis and reporting automation.
Experience planning electromechanical assemblies that combine off-the-shelf and custom-manufactured components.
Experience working with contract manufacturers.
