Change the way the world travels

GetYourGuide is the globally leading marketplace for unforgettable travel experiences. Travelers use GetYourGuide to discover the best things to do in a destination. Since its founding in 2009, people from all over the world have booked more than 150 million tours, activities, and attraction tickets through GetYourGuide. Powered by a global team of over 1000 travel experts and technologists, we are headquartered in Berlin and have 17 local offices around the world. Visit our careers website to learn more.

Team mission

GetYourGuide knows a great deal about every traveler, and almost none of it is usable today. Identity, booking history, browsing behavior, care conversations, preferences and predictions sit in separate systems, in different shapes, so every team that wants to act on what we know rebuilds its own partial version of it. The User Platform team is building the traveler context layer: resolving who someone is across devices and sessions, and turning scattered signals into a shared, interpretable and predictive understanding that every team can build on. We start with travelers, because that is where the leverage is, and the layer is designed to extend to our other users over time.

Your mission

As a Lead Product Manager, you will own the vision and strategy for a new platform at GetYourGuide, and you will be the first product manager on the team that builds it. Working with an Engineering Manager, engineers, an embedded data scientist and an analyst, you will define what the traveler context layer holds, how it is served, and which problems it solves first. This is a genuine zero to one: the identity model, the semantic memory that both humans and LLMs can read, the forward-looking predictions on top of it, and the self-serve interfaces that make it usable are all still to be designed.

The work is equal parts product craft and demand creation. Our consumers are other teams: search and ranking, lifecycle and paid channels, customer care, and the traveler experience itself. Their need is real and widely felt, but they struggle to define what would really solve their problems.

We are looking for a product leader who is fluent in data and machine learning without needing to be a data scientist, who is comfortable when the scope of a domain is still being drawn, and who wants to build the foundation that personalization at GetYourGuide will run on for years.

What You'll Do

  • Ownership: Develop and own a 12+ month vision and strategy for the traveler context domain, define how we win in it, and take full responsibility for the outcomes. Identify where the non-incremental impact sits and sequence the roadmap to reach it.
  • Ambiguity: Operate in a domain that is being defined as you build it. Break an open-ended platform problem into a phased, coherent plan, and make confident calls with incomplete information.
  • Prioritization: Choose the few use cases that prove the platform, and be explicit about what we will not build. Balance the depth a single consumer wants against the breadth the platform needs, and sequence to maximise learning.
  • Collaboration: Build trust with consuming teams across Growth, Retention, Search, Care and Supply, and negotiate the line between what we own and what they own. Proactively manage the dependencies and handoffs that keep the strategy executable.
  • Communication and adoption: Make the platform legible to the rest of the company, from engineers to executives. Create demand where none exists yet by showing teams what becomes possible, then convert that into committed adoption.
  • Technical fluency: Set the technical bar for the team and work credibly with data scientists and engineers on identity resolution, feature and embedding design, and serving architecture. Bring a clear point of view on when a heuristic beats a model, and on build versus buy versus partner.
  • Experimentation: Validate the layer with real consumers and real traffic. Design the tests that show a shared representation outperforms the local copies teams build today.
  • Leadership: Represent the interests of our users and our internal consumers at every level of the organization. Act with openness and transparency with your team, your peers and executive leadership, and coach others on the craft of building platform products

Your toolkit

  • 6+ years of professional experience in product management, including at least 2 years at Lead level or with equivalent scope, and meaningful time spent on data, machine learning or platform products
  • Demonstrated ownership of a product area whose users are other teams, such as an internal platform, an API or a data product, including strategy, KPI definition, goal setting and adoption, not only delivery
  • Strong data literacy: comfortable querying and interpreting large datasets, designing experiments, and working day to day with data scientists and analysts
  • A working understanding of the machine learning lifecycle and how it differs from software delivery, plus the judgment to know when analytics and good heuristics are the better answer
  • A track record of building alignment across a large and varied set of stakeholders, including senior leadership, in a way that is consistent with our Guiding Principles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Bonus: experience with customer data platforms, identity resolution, segmentation or personalization systems
  • Bonus: experience putting LLMs into production
  • Bonus: experience in a marketplace or another two-sided platform
  • Bonus: an engineering or analytics background
