Who We Are

Verkada is transforming how organizations protect their people and places with an integrated, privacy-sensitive AI-powered platform that includes solutions for video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management.

We’ve got serious momentum in the market: more than 30,000 customers (including 100+ of the Fortune 500), a $5.8B valuation, more than $1 billion in annualized bookings, and backing from CapitalG, Sequoia Capital, General Catalyst, Felicis Ventures, Next47 and more. Physical AI is one of the most consequential technology shifts of our time, and Verkada is at the center of it.

You can look at all kinds of communities to see our platform’s impact in the world. It's the retailer that uses our agentic AI to deter theft before it happens. The warehouse that uses AI-powered alerts to make sure its team is protected on the floor with proper PPE. The school that’s alerted to a threat in real-time and triggers a lockdown in seconds, not minutes. We’re rapidly scaling this impact: today, more than 2 million Verkada devices are deployed across 170+ countries.

About the Role

We're focused on hiring embedded software engineers that understand not only the lower-level systems, but also how everything integrates together from the hardware to the UI. You’ll be working closely on one side with our hardware vendors and ME/EE people, and on the other side with server and UI engineers, industrial designers, and our operations team. If you’re looking for a fast-paced environment where your work is regularly shipping to customers and improving people’s safety, this is the place for you!

What You'll Do

  • Develop features for Linux embedded platforms - access control, intercoms, alarms
  • Bring up and integrate the full stack: build system, kernel, drivers and userspace on real hardware
  • Develop userspace applications
  • Debug across the stack
  • Define architecture and design new features
  • Build prototypes and proofs of concept
  • Take projects from inception through deployment to customer support
  • Support the manufacturing process

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience working with embedded Linux
  • Strong, hands-on C skills - you will create, extend and debug a real production C codebase
  • Solid Linux fundamentals: processes, IPC, filesystems, boot flow, on-target debugging, networking
  • Experience with a multi-layered build system (Yocto/Buildroot)
  • Bash (CLI e.g. tar, find, grep, sed; basic scripting)
  • Git
  • Communicative Polish and English (in writing and speaking)

Nice to Have

  • Practical, in-depth knowledge of Yocto is a big plus
  • Experience with the Go programming language is a big plus
  • Ability to read schematics and debug hardware issues
  • Bootloaders (U-Boot), secure boot
  • Programming in Python, C++ or Rust
  • Working with lab equipment (scopes, multimeters, soldering stations, etc.)
  • Experience with RTOSes (e.g. Zephyr, FreeRTOS, Micrium OS)
  • Linux kernel module programming
