Team Description:
The Implant Assembly team builds Neuralink's brain-computer interface implants on the Austin production line. The team runs every step of the build, from array bonding through sealing, cleaning, inspection and acceptance testing. We work closely with Microfabrication, Shipping & Receiving, Quality, and R&D to deliver high-quality implants on schedule.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
As the Manufacturing Material Coordinator, you will own the flow of material on the implant assembly line, so that operators can spend their time building implants. You will make sure every station has the right parts, fixtures and supplies before the shift starts, keep inventory records accurate, and coordinate with Microfab, Shipping & Receiving, and R&D so that material shortages do not stop the line.
Responsibilities:
- Own core inventory control and audits for consumables, fixtures, and implant components, including cycle counts and keeping records accurate in our inventory system
- Receive supplies from Shipping & Receiving and stock them into bulk inventory
- Track stock levels, set reorder points, and flag shortages before they affect production
- Organize and maintain storage, including racks, dryboxes, and labeling
- Stage stations and kits with the right material based on the next day's build priorities
- Coordinate array deliveries with Microfab so that arrays are ready at the start of the build
- Audit fixtures for count, condition, cleanliness, and readiness
- Define station clean standards, and audit and enforce them on the line
- Manage MRB material: segregate and track it, supply parts to the R&D line, and make sure parts do not sit idle in MRB
- Manage shipping and delivery of completed units, and organize units returned to the line
- Track and report inventory and material metrics, and recommend process improvements
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in inventory control, material handling, kitting or production support in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with cycle counts, inventory audits, and keeping inventory records accurate
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfortable using inventory or ERP/MES software and Google Workspace or similar tools
- Able to follow written procedures and work instructions exactly
- Clear communicator who can coordinate across multiple teams and priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a medical device or other regulated (ISO 13485 / FDA QSR) manufacturing environment
- Experience working in a cleanroom, including gowning and contamination control
- Familiarity with MRB, nonconforming material handling and lot traceability
- Experience with Lean or 5S methods (e.g., kitting, line-side replenishment, water spider)
- Experience handling small, fragile or ESD-sensitive components
- Experience with shipping and receiving, or forklift / material handling equipment
Additional Requirements and Competencies:
- Must be able to arrive before the production shift to stage stations, and work occasional extended hours or weekends based on production needs
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs
- Must be able to gown and work in a cleanroom for extended periods
- Must be able to work on site in Austin, TX
