ORBITAL TUBE WELDER, MANIFOLDS

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow established procedures to set up and operate the Composite Overwrap Pressure Vessel (COPV) Manifolds orbital welding system
  • Work from blueprints and approved drawings
  • Cut and prepare all tubing and fittings used in the welding operation
  • Perform setup of the welding system
  • Perform pressure testing operations of weld assemblies per specifications
  • Inspect all completed assemblies using the borescope inspection system
  • Maintain an organized toolbox for welding system operations
  • Maintain a clean work area
  • Safely perform COPV bottle lifting operations using an overhead crane
  • Able to work in a strong team-oriented environment

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 1+ year of welding, machining or manufacturing experience OR certificate from an accredited trade skills program in A&P, manufacturing, welding, and/or electronics

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Certification from a formal orbital weld training program
  • 3+ years of orbital welding experience
  • TIG welding and clean room experience
  • Experience working in an aerospace manufacturing environment

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work all shifts, overtime, and/or weekends and potential holidays as needed
  • Must be able to work any of the following shifts:
  • Monday to Friday: 4:30 AM - 3:00 PM
  • Monday to Friday: 1:00 PM – 11:30 AM
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Able to stand for extended periods: 8-10 hours min
  • Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:  

Pay range:
Orbital Tube Welder/Level 1: $23.00 - $27.00/hour
Orbital Tube Welder/Level 2: $26.00 - $32.50/hour
Orbital Tube Welder/Level 3: $31.00 - $38.00/hour  
    
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
